DarkStarSword managed to crack it down and we have it fixed in all the water surfaces. However, due to how Space Screen Reflections work and how they are projected (ray-traced) from a Mono image, they might still look a bit wrong at certain angles. You can grab it from: http://3dsurroundgaming.com/3DVision/ROTTR/RiseoftheTombRaider3DFix.rar (Latest Patch of the Game added official 3D Vision Support. However this fix addresses other aspects as described above: Correct Lighting, complete fix for reflections and PureHair, black Bar removal in Surround during cinematics, Dynamic Crosshair, etc). The fix is released and can be used as a reference and comparison with the official fix/patch.

Due to MASSIVE SUPPORT from Nixxes, the official version has a very good 3D Vision implementation and I recommend using that!

A couple of things are still missing though:
- NO HBAO+ support
- Laser DOT is broken in Surround. But, the crosshair does work!

This Community fix is now released.

The game was/is a RIGHT mess in 3D Vision Automatic. Nvidia should have given a rating of "Poor" or "Not Recommended".
Besides the obvious shadows, a lot of other things don't render properly or render in 2D. Except for the Geometry (pure Mesh models) that renders correct in 3D everything else was busted.

What's more, the game LOVES to generate NEW shaders with every new room and locations and time of day! In order to extract all shaders the whole game needed to be played again (100% Play-through).

- Completely Fixed PureHair Rendering - Big thanks to DarkStarSword for helping with this one and to Helifax for fixing the Shadows & Lighting rendering on the Hair.

BONUS for Surround Users:
- Removed BLACK borders in all in-game rendered cinematics! - Fix by Helifax

======================================
Game Issues and not caused by the FIX:
======================================
The game has a couple of rendering bugs that are present with or without a fix.
- In SLI - some of the tessellated snow tracks will flicker. (Side-effect from alternative SLI profile)
- In "Geothermal Valley" - some grass will flicker. (Side-effect from alternative SLI profile)
- SSAO & HBAO+ might look OFF on some geometry at extreme angles. This is a bug that was addressed in game version "Build_623.2".
- PureHair doesn't work properly under SLI by default. See the configuration section below on how to remedy this.
- Low FPS in 3D Surround Mode. This might be a driver bug as it appears only when 3D Vision is running and Surround is enabled.
Workaround:
- Start the game.
- Select a 1 screen resolution and hit apply.
- After the resolution has changed select Cancel (don't want to keep the settings)
- Game will revert to Surround resolution and the FPS is back to what it should be.

=====================
Recommended settings:
=====================

- Sun Soft Shadows - Must be "ON" or "Very High". High Setting is still broken.
- Depth of Field - Recommended value is "ON". This is used only in cinematics & certain atmospheric locations. Setting it to "Very High" adds to much DOF and looks weird. You can set it to OFF.
- Specular Reflections Quality - All settings are supported. Recommended value is "Very High". (Adds quite a bit of quality to reflections).
- Bloom - Recommended value is "ON".
- Screen Space Reflections. Recommended value is "ON". This was pretty complex to fix. DarkStarSword managed to crack it down and we have it fixed in all the water surfaces. However, due to how Space Screen Reflections
work and how they are projected (ray-traced) from a Mono image, they might still look a bit wrong at certain angles. If you find it too disturbing you can disable it.
- PureHair - Recommended value is "OFF" as It slows down the FPS quite massively.
- Rest of the settings are up to you (the user/gamer).

=================================
Selecting the Right GAME VERSION:
=================================
- Requires version "Build_610.1" or earlier of the GAME
- Any other version AFTER will NOT WORK. This is due to the game changing how the shaders are generated.

STEAM Version:
- Select Game and go to Properties.
- Select BETAS tab.
- From the Beta combo-box select the new version.
- Press Close.

=======================
NVIDIA Profile Changes:
=======================
The game requires a profile change or modification.

I. Editing the profile with Nvidia Inspector:
- Download http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-inspector-download.html
- Download the Nvidia Inspector Profile (NIP) file from here: http://3dsurroundgaming.com/3DVision/ROTTR/RiseoftheTombRaider.rar
(It contains the ALTERNATIVE SLI BITS that increase GPU usage to normal values but might cause some flickering!!! If you don't like it revert the flags to the default values.)
- Add the profile using NvInspector.

Quick video of showing how to Import a NIP Profile using NvidiaInspector:

In the end you should have something like this:
(requires the XML file from https://github.com/DarkStarSword/3d-fixes/blob/master/CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml to view it as below. Don't worry about it if the profile IS IMPORTED SUCCESSFULLY!!!)
Image
- This step IS MANDATORY and is required to fix Tile Lighting, Bloom, DOF and other various rendering problems.

II. Import the whole profile via "Geforce 3D Profile Manager" (Alternative Method):
- See post number 3: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/919928/3d-vision/rise-of-the-tomb-raider-2016-3d-vision-fix/post/4820215/#4820215
If you are having issues and want to swap the WHOLE profile follow the video:

NOTE:
- The NIP profile above is NOT COMPATIBLE with the latest version of the game!! (It will crash the game).
- For the latest version of game revert to the original profile!

=================================
Installing & Configuring the Fix:
=================================
- Due to the HUGE amount of shaders the game uses, STUTTERING or complete HALTS might appear when the engine is LOADING the shaders and 3DMigoto is SWAPPING the shaders. This will go away after 5-10 seconds.
- The first time you start the game (after a Windows reboot) Loading times will be longer. On a mechanical Laptop HDD (7200 RPM) can take up to 10 minutes !!!
- IT IS recommended to install the game on an SSD and play it from there as explained above.
- To install the fix, simply copy ALL the files from the RAR archive (found below) in the game's folder (next to the .exe file).

3D Vision Single Screen:
- Open "d3dx.ini" file
- In this section modify "x=" to any value you want to use for the UI depth.
[Constants]
; UI depth factor
x = 0.5
; Surround = 1, Single Screen = 0
y = 0.0

; Enable or Disable PureHair Animations? 0 = Disabled; 1 = Enabled.
; ENABLE THIS TO FIX THE PureHair SLI sync ISSUES!!!!
x1 = 1.0;
; Not used.
;y1 = 0;
;z1 = 0;
;w1 = 0;

3D Vision Surround:
- Open "d3dx.ini" file
- In this section modify "x=" to any value you want to use for the UI depth.
- In this section set "y=1.0" to enable Surround scaling.
[Constants]
; UI depth factor
x = 0.5
; Surround = 1, Single Screen = 0
y = 1.0

; Enable or Disable PureHair Animations? 0 = Disabled; 1 = Enabled.
; ENABLE THIS TO FIX THE PureHair SLI sync ISSUES!!!!
x1 = 0.0;
; Not used.
;y1 = 0;
;z1 = 0;
;w1 = 0;

- Scroll down and find the key bindings section and set "w=1.0" for correct crosshair scaling in Surround:
; XBOX controller
[KeyAimining1]
Key = XB_LEFT_TRIGGER
; Single Screen 3D Vision = 0.0; Nvidia 3D Surround = 1.0;
w = 1.0
; DO NOT CHANGE
z = 1.0
type=hold

; Mouse
[KeyAimining2]
Key = VK_RBUTTON
; Single Screen 3D Vision = 0.0; Nvidia 3D Surround = 1.0;
w = 1.0
; DO NOT CHANGE
z = 1.0
type=hold

- Do not modify any of the other constants!!! or the crosshair will be broken.

- Find this section and comment the "run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS" line like follows:
[Present]
; Clear an ini param at the start of each frame:
;x = 0
; Clear a custom resource at the start of each frame:
ResourceDepthBuffer = null
; Uncomment to enable a custom shader that allows the stereo output mode to be
; changed to Side-by-Side or Top-and-Bottom:
;run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS

- If you fail to do this there will be a huge performance impact in 3D Surround.

========================
To change Viewing Modes:
========================

; The following can convert 3D Vision to Side-by-Side and
; Top-and-Bottom for use with 3D TVs & projectors - to enable this set 3D Vision
; to output "checkerboard" in the control panel (which will remove the 720p
; limitation) and enable this either via the F11 key

==================================
UPGRADING from a previous version:
==================================
- Navigate to the Game Folder
- Run "uninstall.bat"
- Download the archive again
- Follow "ALL THE STEPS" from the "Installing & Configuring the Fix" section above!!!

=====================
Uninstalling the FIX:
=====================
- Navigate to the Game Folder
- Run "uninstall.bat"
- That's it!

=====================
KNOWN ISSUES:
=====================
- In 3D Surround the Avalanche effect is rendered at wrong depth. Press and HOLD "Right Mouse Button" or "Left Trigger XBox controller button" to put it at correct depth during the cinematic.
- In 3D Surround some of the Bink Movies are rendered Mono, but they work perfectly fine in Single Screen. This is due to how the game CENTRES the UI on the middle screen.
- I might have missed a few shaders that I didn't encounter or didn't see them so, there is the possibility of minor objects still not rendering properly in 3D.
- Some color inversion might appear in certain areas illuminated by God-Rays (very rare).
- Some lens flares lights are clipped/missing in one eye at high angles.

Hey Helifax, this amazing, can't wait. Thank you for the hard work, 2d does not give this game justice. I played for 20 min and stopped to wait for the 3d fix. You are the 3d vision savior. I have installed many fixes before and most of them are easy to install, dump files, replace with max pain profile, using ini files to change controls etc. etc..... But some of the fixes I have not been able to install due to more complex instructions (such as the instructions above), even after doing my best to follow the instructions. Especially when using this https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/791450/3d-vision/guide-how-to-enable-and-tweak-3d-compatibility-mode-in-any-dx11-game/ guide. If you have time, can you kindly make a little video tutorial for the fix???

When you put the new CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml next to Nvidia Inspector Exe, nvidia inspector doesn't run. Is it just me?
I MADE THIS THREAD TO BE A PLACE HOLDER FOR THE FIX!!! Rather than post the fix in the other long thread I decided to make a new thread here, so the fix is posted ON THE FRONT PAGE! The fix will also be stored and be available on http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/, but I find it easier to discuss a fix here on the forums rather than on the blog comment sections. PLEASE! Don't POST HERE until the FIX has been released!
The fix is not released yet. As explained this is work in progress. Not being able to open nvidiaInspector with the xml file means the xml file is corrupt or incomplete. That section will be changed soon.

I posted it on the other big thread, but just to let you know. They added 3DS to the game, Helifax. Here are the notes from the patch: "[03-01-2016] PC Patch notes for patch 1.0.629.3 (Patch #4) We have just released the fourth PC patch for Rise of the Tomb Raider, build 1.0.629.3. This patch focuses primarily on adding stereoscopic 3D rendering. We know it was a favorite feature for many of our players on the previous Tomb Raider and based on your feedback we are bringing this to you now in Lara’s latest adventure. This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client. If you are using the game on the Window Store, the update will be available in a few days, and will automatically download as it becomes available. We will update this thread when the Windows Store version is live. Stereoscopic 3D rendering support added. Supports explicit side-by-side rendering for 3D TVs. Supports NVIDIA 3DVision or AMD HD3D (On Steam version). Supports Windows DXGI 1.2 Stereo 3D (On Windows Store version). Addressed some problems when the display DPI was not set to 100%, including not being able to select all resolutions. Added some logic to retroactively grant achievements in cases where Steam failed to grant them shortly after release. A variety of other smaller optimizations, bug-fixes, and tweaks. While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we made a Beta available on Steam, Build 623.2, which can be used to switch back to the previous version. We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!" If there is anything to be fixed after the patch, it will be much less trouble for you I hope. I haven't tested the 3D yet, but there it is. I want to thank you for the hard work all of you guys put to keep 3D Vision alive. Really apreciate it :)

I will release our patch in any case;) (Now that is done). I am curious to see which one will work/look better though;) I wish more developers would show love for stereo 3D like Crystal Dynamics, Nixxes shows us with this patch;)
