Microsoft automatic update 347.90 set as important
  1 / 3
From Nvidia is latest 347.88. So what is that? Why Microsoft set this update as important? Can someone provide information about the driver 347.90?

I got this, too. I installed it and it appears to work without any issues, but I haven't had a chance to check for any kind of performance impact. Best guess is that it's an emergency hotfix that needed pushed out as fast as possible to as many devices as possible, and from that perspective Windows Update makes the most sense as a distribution platform. Really, though, I have no idea. The lack of release notes is disconcerting.

Got this too, would be really nice to get some info about this. If it was hotfix, they wouldn't still offer to download 347.88 as latest drivers, would they? Asked some friends and they don't have anything like that in their windows update and still run on 347.88

I got this too, but did not install it yet - Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. Currently using 347.88. Some more information from NVidia would be very helpful.

I just installed a Evga GTX 960 FTW version on my Win 10 build 10041 rig and it grabbed the 347.90 drivers. I then booted over to a different drive with Win 7 on it and got 347.88. Seems to be a Win8/10 issue they're addressing with 347.90

Okay I just ran a 3DMark Sky Diver test and the result showed it as a "Generic VGA (1x)" with the warning "GRAPHICS CARD IS NOT RECOGNIZED ( + 1 MORE )" which is odd since Device Manager shows it as "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960", which in fact it is. I'm going to now load the 347.88 drivers and see if 3DMark recognizes it as the GTX 960 it actually is rather than "Generic".

Weird. Now with the 347.88 drivers 3DMark still shows the same results from an "unrecognized VGA card" Huh. The hell you say. I would think they would have the GTX 960 in their database by now. And regardless of driver version (347.88 or 347.90) 3dMark didn't recognize it as a GTX 960 even though Device Manager does, regardless of the driver version.

My bad. It's 347.88 for the latest WHQL driver and 349.90, not 347.90, for this latest driver they're pushing through Windows Update for Win8/10 users.

Got the same here (with 347.88 installed) again, was first also in January, see https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/799857/warning-suddenly-microsoft-graphics-drivers-offered-in-windows-update/. Even though I did set my Windows not to search/download/install drivers with Windows Update, the update is showing as Important. And then again I do hide the update. No other information then this:
nVidia - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - NVIDIA Miracast Audio Downloadsize: 263,3 MB
And indeed still no information, neither from Nvidia or Microsoft. PS. Did just ask through http://www.geforce.com/support/feedback for a sticky subject here on the forum. Maybe that way they can clarify this confusing situation.

Nothing major in this driver for end users. The only difference users might see is the new SLI profile for Oddworld New n Tasty

Thx for info. Today I have one crash in Dying Light with this driver. So it will see if it happens again. With driver 347.52 this has never happened before.
