Total War: Rome II
  1 / 15
Total War: Rome II has major performance issues with current drivers. Even people with the best GPUs (such as Titan) are struggling to run it smoothly even when lowering settings. Any ETA on game-ready drivers? I have been told on the official Creative Assembly forums that issue is with drivers and not the game itself, as can be seen here: http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/77808-Everyone-Experiencing-Lag-on-Battle-Map-or-Campaign-map-PLEASE-READ?p=652206&viewfull=1#post652206

SLI not supported either, only 60% GPU usage and very poor performance on high end GPU setups.

Rome 2 has other problems too like Hyperthreading which for some reason decreases performance. Yes I know that's not NVIDIA's problem I'm just putting it out there that the game doesn't seem properly optimized.

Experience profile is useless I must admit. It suggests to set all settings at low and medium on OC`ed GTX 770 with 4GB VRAM. Unfortunately the major fix of perfomance is required indeed.

Rome II Released today 9/3/2013 and there are no beta drivers that support it :) Hopefully Nvida/AMD release either a updated Beta driver or Nvidia Experience Profile for Rome 2. Thank you Josh@NVIDIA for helping many gamers get the full potential out of our Nvidia Graphics Cards. Hopefully with new beta driver we can put our awesome SLI rigs on low-high settings without artifacts and other issues. I am currently running a 2x GTX580's with beta driver version 326.80 Note: This is a common post in the Rome 2 forums regarding drivers/graphics. SLI not supported either, only 60% GPU usage and very poor performance on high end GPU setups. Another post refering to driver issue. http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/77979-Chatted-with-NVIDIA-support/page2?s=8f7dad796eedf959d4be1bc592db5fb4

Yea, using a GTX 770 4gb. Running Shogun 2 ultra setting around 140fps, yet Rome 2 on the lowest setting is 8-20fps. I have around 130fps at the start of the battle, with GPU usage around 67%, but if i zoom in or pan the camera etc.. the fps drops to around 8, and the GPU usage goes down to around 25%. Hoping this info helps.

Looking forward to drivers and SLI profiles for this game. Currently it's not the best to play for me with 30 fps on a single Titan.

In coastal and sea battles GPU downcloks itself 200MHz more than less.

GTX590 & i7-970 (6@3.2) 03/09/2013 - I was getting 20-30 fps in the benchmark 04/09/2013 - benchmarked an average of 57fps (after installing beta drivers 326.80) I think I also changed some settings mainly to low - increasing each now to identify the issue. Main graphics tweaks: + limit vid mem usage to card max + shadows, sky, water on low + other textures on high/very high + AA off + veg alpha off + vsynch on (all other tick boxes off) - did not optimise through geforce experience
