Hitman: Absolution - Best settings for Optimal Performance
This is just some quick information to get better performance in Hitman: Absolution and overall make the game run smoother. Quick notes is that Hitman 5 is developed for console primarily and the PC port has been created by Nixxes so it is a good port. First item to increase FPS is disable the Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing that Hitman 5 uses, my performance was: Hitman 5 8x MSAA MAX FPS: 33-35 (Vsync) - MIN FPS: 8-10 (Vsync) NOTE: Is the best anti-aliasing and specifically tuned for the engine. This AA removes practically 100% of all jagged edges. Nvidia Control Panel Anti-aliasing - Setting 32x CSAA + Anti-aliasing - Transparency (8x Supersample) MAX FPS: 60 (Vsync) - MIN FPS: 60 (Vsync) NOTE: Is a good compromise for the anti-aliasing that comes with Hitman 5, but it fails to anti-alias tessellated objects to a good degree. Nvidia Inspector Anti-aliasing - Setting 32xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 8x MS] + Anti-aliasing - Transparency 8x Supersample MAX FPS: 60 (Vsync) - MIN FPS: 60 (Vsync) NOTE: Improves on the 32x CSAA and anti-aliases tessellated objects to some degree. Still is no where near a nice as the 8x MSAA that is built in. Nvidia Inspector + Hitman5 2x MSAA (Hitman 5) + Anti-aliasing - Setting 32xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 8x MS] + Anti-aliasing - Transparency 8x SGSSAA MAX FPS: 42 (Vsync) - MIN FPS: 39 (Vsync) NOTE: Eliminates a lot of jagged edges but still does not anti-alias tessellated objects well, has a fair performance cost and it isn't worth what it brings to the table. I noticed no visual difference in the game but performance increased dramatically. EDIT: The 32x CSAA does smooth out some jagged edges but does not provide as much visual prettyness as the built in MSAA, I am currently trialing other AA methods and will post results shortly. Other item is that the Nvidia Control Panel FXAA seems to be clearer and provide better smoothing than the built in FXAA. So thats all my testing done. Dissapointing about the AA, it seems to be the game's only hindrance, now its time to play. Hope this helps, feel free for anyone more technically competent than me to add to it. Also update to Beta Drivers 310.54 for your SLI! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Tl;dr - Hitman 5's built in MSAA is the best, nearly everything in the game is tessellated from the water to the tiles on the wall so forced AA only helps on non-tessellated objects.

x3 GTX 680 4GB on 1080p and average 65fps?, that is shocking, what drivers are you using?. Shock horror for a directX 10 game imho.

Just purchased and installed the gamne. Where does it say DirectX 11 other than on the box/dvd case?. I wonder if PhysX impacts on the performance?, where to disable PhysX?. Biggest performance killer in the benchmark for me is MSAA, Ultra settings and MSAA 8x average fps is 24, MSAA off is average 49 fps. pc specs Windows 7 64-bit (SP1) i7-860 CPU @ 2.8GHz (HT on) GTX 580 1.5GB (310.61 beta) SSD (sata 3GB/s) X-Fi soundcard 8GB RAM Screen size 1920x1080 120Hz EDIT: Forgot to add that i have VSYNC disabled because it's a performance killer.
i'm also getting shocking performance and stutter on medium settings with a GTX 690.
Probably needs a patch for SLI or dual GPU's. In game i get approx lows of 30-36 fps, highs of approx 50 fps and highest around 90-98 fps depending if i choose to look at the ceilings hahaha!, at least the framerate is not capped. My pc is approx 2 years old now, some of you guys with higher spec pc's should be getting more than me. Hitman Absolution needs patching, and this is pretty obvious around the fourth mission. I spent around 5 hours with it last night, and it is pretty rough around the edges. The rendering used in the engine itself feels broken in some areas almost like it is struggling to load shaders ahead of the FOV. There is also clipping on particle effects such as smoke, fog, and even some lighting particles...which in itself is quite strange. I also noticed there seems to be a sharpening filter applied to the post process that is adjusted based on the environmental "mood." This isn't a bad thing, but it can make the game look dramatically different based on the lighting used (almost like a different resolution). It is a rough launch, but with some engine optimization it should improve the dramatic frame drops. SLi scaling and GPU usage are both pretty good with the latest beta released yesterday, unfortunately that very same driver is causing issues in other popular titles such as Darksiders 2, Battlefield 3, and Borderlands 2. I used 3-way eVGA GTX 670 FTW units on +135 power target/beta 310.61 for the tests @2560x1600 on Dell's U3011. Side Note: Glacier 2 is a nice engine...just nothing you can really do to get under the hood, or I would. -Hooks

So we must hand it over to our tame PC tweaker. Some say he sticky tapes a block of uranium to his dinner before eating it and that he sucks moisture out of ducks. All we know is, he's called Hooks.
