Thief 1/2 and System Shock 2: perfect 3D with unofficial patch 1.19

One month ago, an unoffical dx6 --> dx9 patch was released for Thief 1/2 and System Shock 2. This patch brings numerous improvements (too many improvements to list here) and allows perfect (or almost perfect) dx9 3D rendering in 3D Vision (and probably 3D TV Play too). The reason I am starting a topic about this is because I recently played some exciting Thief missions in 3D and decided to share the fun with all my 3D Vision friends. Increase gamma if you need more light. Note 4: Since Thief patch 1.19, in Dracula Reloaded and in Bathory Campaign, a few important items are invisible. But they still can be picked up. Blind frobbing (right clicking) is a useful way to pick up an occasional invisible item. Note 5: After you finish playing Thief, remember to disable the iZ3D driver. Other games may not work in 3D when both 3D Vision and iZ3D driver are enabled.

@Partol You my friend with your guide and suggestions have brought my favorite dark engine games back from the dead. System Shock 2 in 3D with some of the new texture mods, what an experience! Thief series played in full 3D works great! Several hours played without a hitch.... Thanks for this bigtime. Long live the PC which still reigns king as far as game platforms go...

You're welcome, friend. Nice to know someone else is enjoying System Shock 2 and Thief 1/2 in 3D. I will update the first post with my recommended fan missions, as I finish playing them.

I've just finished playing both Thief Gold and Thief 2 in stereo 3D with the new patches. Loved them (of course I've played both games several times before). I wouldn't say the 3D was the best ever because of the simple geometry, but that's not really the point - the point is these are two of the best games ever made and you can now play them in 3D. It definitely does add to the immersion too. I'm now playing System Shock 2 in 3D, which of course is also one of the best games ever made. The 3D in this probably looks a bit better than Thief 1/2 simply because SS2 has better visuals in general and more complex environments. Only issue I noticed was I couldn't find an obvious way to turn off the crosshair, so I had both the nvidia crosshair and the games one (which of course is not accurate in 3D). Anyone know how to turn off the in-game crosshair? 3 amazing games though, and now working in 3D. A treat.

@fish99 I was looking for same thing when I was thinking about installing I havent tested it yet but... http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=29.0 He has a crosshair which is "invisible" so that might be what you need...if not it may be possible to modify them into something you can use (invisible or a dot). I love old games, Ill probably give this a shot soon. I was actually playing soul reaver the other day. Its a bit sad when you replay it and you realize its probably for the last time. I go through that everytime I play Mass Effect 1....Then I replay it again next year lol.

Nice find, eqzitara. I just tested the invisible crosshair and it works. in-game 2D Crosshair is 100% invisible. I will add that mod to my list of recommended mods.

Can anyone please confirm that, after 8 months, this is still supposed to work with the latest nVidia drivers? I just installed the SS2 2.4 update (which, if I'm getting it right, changes the rendering to d3d9), but it's the same as without it: 3D is on, but the only thing stereoscopic is the 3D cursor.

Yes sorry, I overlooked that part. Did it now, not getting any seperation from iz3d, not in the test picture and not in-game, even though 3d glasses activate.
