Crysis 1 -- Extremely poor SLI scaling (GTX680)
  1 / 2
Decided to give Crysis 1 a try as I haven't played it in ages... seems SLI support on the GTX680 is just broken. Extremely poor performance and GPU usage!! Only seeing 30-50% GPU usage currently. This is DX10 Very High / 0x AA / VSync Off.

actually this game plays perfectly fine with a single GTX 680. Crysis is known for its terrible support with SLI.

Shadow dane, would you mind disabling sli and reporting the performance numbers? Deadpixels has me curious.

A clear Case for CPU Limit, which is often underestimated in Crysis. GTX680@SLI can use their Power only with more Anti-Aliasing or Higher Resolutions, as long as the CPU is the Brake.
An Core i7@5Ghz would bring Wonders here and the GPU-Usage of your SLI GTX680 System significantly increase. /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Crysis has a reputation for terrible SLI support? First I heard of it. I played it on 3 GTX280s and got great SLI scaling with all 3 cards running at 100% usage. And Crysis 2 shows pretty much exactly the same behaviour.

But two GTX680s is a pretty powerful setup. You are gonna need a serious CPU to get SLI to scale well on those. As Blaire says, you want to enable AA and lots of it. I'd even consider overriding the game settings and forcing 32xAA or more.

But I agree something isn't right. 49fps with no AA? I get 75fps+ with 16xAA on three GTX470s. One 680 should be about equivalent to two 470s, so you should be getting way more than that.

I know Crysis 1 scales beautifully on Fermi cards. This can be confirmed by simply checking out the benchmarks posted at every major review site.

I tried once to reproduce a similar Place, looks itself:

I think it shows clearly what here is the Bottleneck... :) SLI eats CPU-Power for Breakfast. /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Edit: Possibly, also another Problem could be at "Shadowdane" the Cause of the low FPS, 49fps seem to me also something too little for an i7@4Ghz

Yup SLI off = 90-99% GPU usage @ 75-90fps
Funny thing is I'm upgrading from a GTX460 SLI setup, I got better performance in Crysis with GTX460 SLI. This isn't a CPU limit here, this is clearly the driver not up to snuff. My CPU usage while in game is pretty low.

OK if there are such great Differences, CPU-Limit is not the Cause of this Problem.
You have tried in the NV ControlPanel Power-Management-Mode with "High Performance" instead of "Adaptive"?
Have you already individually tested both Cards? Have both GTX680 same BIOS version?
Is this Problem only with Crysis? Other Games Scaling normal?

Seems to only be Crysis & Crysis Warhead which actually share the same SLI profile settings. Everything else I've tried runs fine, hell Crysis 2 performs great for me at 60fps with Vsync!

Very strange, have you installed any Tweaks or Mods, or you are using an own Autoexec.cfg in Crysis Directory?

I had an autoexec.cfg file, I'll remove it and test again. I doubt that would make a difference as the config just changes a few values for better vegetation draw distances.

Test it, let me know if Problem is gone. If the other Games very well with SLI scale, it may be due only to the Application itself, you have already installed the new 301.34 Drivers?

A little better using no config file on Very High with 0xAA, still only 45-55% usage on each GPU though.

Hmm.. so I tried with 8X FSAA & 4X SGSSAA. Now it actually hovers around 80-90% GPU usage. LOL
