Binary Domain Demo Anyone got the full game?
  1 / 3
I installed the Binary Domain demo from Steam today. When started in S3D the screen is all blue. Turn of 3d and it's normal. I used the avp.exe trick to launch the game as ofdr.exe and all the blue stuff goes away, and on the whole the game does not look bad. Main problems (as ever) are shadows, and 2D hud, in particular 2d name markers, and 2D cross-hair. It's quite a bit like ME3 was pre-HeliX. I did not play enough to see if water would be a problem anywhere. I think maybe smoke from explosions might be 2d as well. I found one shader that removes most of the shadows (Pixel shader 363, 0x740A8993) and so its stops hurting your eyes and makes it playable, but removes a lot of the ambience (very bright), but the 2d cross hair was a pain. Screenshots attached. Fixing the hud/cross-hair would make this game more passable, if any Helix modders think the game is worth it?
Was wondering if anyone else has tried it out or if the full game fixes any of the above problems?

Ill dl demo tommorrow and see what I can do and if anyone wants to fix it past that feel free. Are you saying that when you remove shadows it has a secondary lighting effect it also removes? Does it look better or worse with secondary effect removed. I can probably fix it all besides shadows but will see how it goes.

The pixel shader I noted seems to remove several shadow effects (but not all I must add), including the sense of 'inside darkness' (static shadows on walls that sort of thing) - see the second two screenshots that shows this. The game is not playable with the 2d rendered shadows, but is playable without them, so in that respect its far better without them. But having them fixed would make it look really good.

I just tried it. I rewritten crosshair into 3d.... but it still shows 2d. I cant quite figure out whats wrong with it. Someone else can try but I never ran into this issue.

Not sure if this is related, but I had some issues with both the debug and release dlls. I pulled the latest debug from the helixwiki, and used the release from skyrim - so there might be some conflict I don't know about. When using the Debug dll, the red text was duplicated and covered the whole screen in enormous size font, so I had to press F11 to hide it. When I used the release DLL, the whole image was corrupted, kind of like a black and white shiny shapes (you could discern the characters, but the rendering was all wrong).

Codes off but it doesnt work for me either so I dunno but I've done this like 100 times. Maybe I made a typo I couldnt see.
Why replace v2 for r3?
mov o0, v1 // this line should match position
mov o3, v1 // dcl_position "o3"

Here are the two ways to write it.

Thanks for the help and teaching.....i'm null to this stuff, but i want to learn.

I found some others PS to remove, i think if the crosshair is fixed the game is totally playable.
Maybe is something hardcoded because the Crosshair/HUD #VS is the same for the loading screen and menu.

I think the debug dll is not connecting to NVAPI tbh . Cant say for certain. NVAPI is the 3d vision driver. When we make a code correction it "talks" to it. Thats why fixes only work for 3d vision. We can remove stuff but we cant get it in 3d.

maybe you're right.... 2 PS i removed in the txt (total 5), still appear in the game.
With debug they removed, but with the release dll don't.

Cmon mate...

Geme is really nice, considering sega latest games. Its story driven and u have nice moments and the world is nicely art/designed to fit the story. Graphics are really good aswell! For me It is very similar to Capcoms Lost Planet. It would be great if somebody could manage to run it in good S3D.

Game gots overal 7.5 and it deserves it!
