Heat spreader?
I will probably buy an Evga GTX 580. [015-P3-1580-KR]

When I checked EK's Cooling Configurator it mentions to check to see if it has a heat spreader. The full cover blocks are only compatible with a heat spreader.

How do I know if the above card has a heat spreader and what will it do with the water block?

Just found out Evga removed the heat spreader and EK water blocks no longer fit.

There's really no way to know if the card has the IHS without taking it apart and inspecting it. Most EVGA GTX 580's do have the IHS installed.

The best way to handle this is to buy the card first, then take it apart to confirm. It you get one without the IHS, you'll have to buy one of EK's full coverage blocks designed for IHS-less GTX 580's (like this one).

I remember someone telling me that all the 580 Classfied's have the IHS installed, but I never confirmed.

Thanks for the replies.
There are only 2 distributors in Australia. One gives a constant 404 error and the other only wants resellers. It doesn't advertise products. Only the maker names.

I looked at a watercooled Evga in the past but they were around a thousand dollars. The Evga cooler isn't available in Australia. I've googled all the resellers likely to have Evga stock. There is one watercooled Evgas in Aus. $900. Yesterday some resellers are still pricing their 580's at $800. Some as low as $425. Good brands are pricier.

The 580's are giving way to the 680's. There may be some second hand 580's available, but they are mostly in the USA, and private individuals don't want to ship o/seas. Can't blame them though.

The reason I want water cooling is my 8800's are watercooled and I may as well have one 580 and watercool it. I'd love to have an Evga classified or even the evga watercooled 580.

I may steer away from EK, but they seem reasonably priced in Australia. And a well-liked reseller in Aus is PCCasegear. They only sell EK.
If all else fails, I'll try evga direct. Thanks.

Try EVGA direct (if they are the company you want to go with) - sometimes, they can offer you a deal - being kind to their customers who cannot normally source their products. (other times, a little note saying that you'll big them up on the forums you visit can help sway them to take that little step extra) :)
