BFG GTX 295 and BFG GTX 285 incompatible cards for span displaying? Span displays
Hi all,

Basically I will need a hand setting up my BFG GTX 295 and BFG GTX 285 to work in span surround mode with games.
Everything is fine using Windows or even playing Flight Simulator I can use the 3 screens because it uses a different method but not with the rest of the games.

When trying to span the displays on the Nvidia control panel it gives me an error saying that I have to connect the 3rd monitor to the 295 when it's connected to the 285.

Also the adapter/bridge from one card to the other card is connected, but I realized that the 295 is 2 way SLI and the 285 is 3 way SLI (it has 2 connectors instead of just one, I tried both already)
GPU-Z says that the 295 has the SLI enabled but the 285 it is not.

Is this because they are different models?

Here is an screenshoot of the problem

I will appreciate any help.

Connect all displays to the GTX295.

The 295 only has 2 DVI connectors therefore the 3rd screen has to be connected to the 285

This will not work.

Surround requires SLI.

The drivers look as if they are going to allow Surround because there are 2 GPUs in SLI on the 295. But even a 295 only supports 2 displays, so you can't connect all 3.

You cannot SLI a 285 with a 295, as they are different models of card. So the display connected to the 285 will not run in Surround.

You need 2 cards of the same model.

The only nVidia card that supports Surround on a single card is the GTX680 because it's the only one that supports 3 displays.

There is one exception to this. There were some later models of 295 that also had an HDMI port. These cards DO support Surround, but only on projectors.
This will not work.

You are right, thanks for the info
I bought another BFG GTX 295 (both single PCB) and now I can play games in fullscreen using Quad SLI with 3 monitors.

Here are the answers and all possible ways to do it...
