Please either post review either as on here as a post or if you want something nicer post on gg3d. If its on gg3d let me know via a post.

Brilliant idea.

but such a shame it had to come to this. Nobody can rely on nVidia's ratings now they rate according to how good the game looks in 2D or how nicely the developer 'talks' to them. /down.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Well tbh this is a test run. I will probably make a blogspot for it. That way when updates/nvidia profile updates and it breaks/improves it(ha) people can post comments to let others know. Like games like world of warcraft, starcraft 2, etc where things are constantly changing.

March 1st. I did month/date for organization reasons. No idea on post length. I see some ridiculously long ones where people do modding of their computers.
@Zloth my bad fixed.

Errr, that would be Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. Kinda strange name when you think about it but that's what the call it.

Well, dare I ask...why don't you just use GameGrade3D?

You can edit existing profiles (that you submit), attach screenshots, add completely new profiles based on updated driver versions, etc. etc.

Even Andrew has confirmed that the QA process is similar to what Nvidia does internally - except GG3D is intended to be used by 3D gamers directly and is a dynamic engine. Even Tom's Hardware has given it a positive mention (twice, actually).

We are working on some details to make it a little easier to use, and there are some ideas we would like to implement still. As is, it's a very easy tool to cross reference submission URLS, and demonstrate bugs and problems that need fixing in a measurable way. It accepts PNG, PNS, JPG, and JPS image formats too.

GG3D is the Daddy. There is no two ways about it and should be the first place to look for what I would call the 'official' rating.

It is just not here on this forum though. I think it would be good to have a place here where we can have a quick reference to game as well as GG3D.

@ eqzitara - Keep updating this thread mate! The blog spot is one mouse click too many for lazy people like me!

Hmmm... I guess I can do up to date stuff here. And move everyones old reviews onto gamegrade 3d and move backlog of like 2-3 months I manually punch into gamegrade 3D.
I really am doing this as prevention of people buying games and finding out it doesnt work well in 3d or when they post here with review I can convince them to run helix debugger to fix issues such as bad effects/shadows. Like if someone gives a review and says only thats bad is shadows I say hey its easy to remove. He removes it. Game looks good and bam people know its worth buying now. I recently bought two games just cause I knew I could fix them lol. One of which I will play the other I wont. Not really a long turn solution.
Like I posted I am buying game of thrones. Now no one else has to. If I didnt post it. There might be I dunno like 10 people buying it. If its bad in 3d. I eat it and no one has to. Max payne is comming out and nvidia says its bad in 3d but they dont account for helix so when person says shadows are off and crosshair is 2d. Thats an easy fix.
Not sure if anyone noticed but im not sure if its due to sales or whatever but nvidia seems to given up. I been doing my best to get everyone organized and more of a community effort but things starting to look bad in nvidia support category.
If anyone has questions or problems with how I am doing this tell me in PM.
That aside if you got any reviews are preordering a game let me know.

Hi Eqzitara and Andysonofbob,

I can’t speak for Nvidia, but I know the guys there well enough that I don’t see them to be the type to give up. They are too hard working a bunch to give up!

If I could get on my soapbox a moment, I think we need to get back to our roots. MTBS was founded right here. It was based on the idea that if gamers can get together and demonstrate demand for stereoscopic 3D gaming, the industry will follow through with S-3D game support, better hardware, and ultimately a very good customer experience. What mattered most was that the effort was organized and polished.

While I regret not having the financial resources to do everything I wanted to do, we were blessed to have the help of gamers to create services like GG3D, a true stereoscopic 3D forum, and a gallery that supports all 3D solutions. These are community growth tools we can all be using to maximize exposure and influence. As this is the forum of choice for a lot of 3D Vision gamers, we should be sharing instant 3D images here! We have the means to do that now.

The reason I pipe on about GG3D so much is because it not only demonstrates a measurable interest in stereoscopic 3D gaming (and helps fellow gamers), it creates a customer driven encouragement for game developers and technology enablers to release great 3D products. So if a game sucks in 3D, a quick GG3D URL explains why complete with screenshots. The same way people link to Wikipedia, 3D gamers could be linking to GG3D submissions as an informed and unbiased resource to demonstrate their point.

If a game developer promotes themselves as 3D Ready, suddenly that has to really mean something – especially with an informed gaming community testing their claims in an organized and public manner. Game developers have to ultimately care how their products look in 3D, and this could be a way to make that happen. It’s a good bug fixing diagnostic tool for them too!

In my opinion, splintering off in a million directions or duplicating what already exists in different flavors doesn’t make a lot of sense to me – the message will just lose its effectiveness and influence. I think it would be much easier to figure out what GG3D is missing from an Nvidia gamer’s point of view, and get things fixed so it is more useful to the community. Your thoughts?

Chopper

Hey Chopper

GG3D is rigourous, as reliable as anything subjective as 3D quality can be and designed like a standard which can be used by multiple audiences. MTBS3D's work is blatently a force for good for gaming in 3D. I frankly love it.

Again, I have always been happy with nVidia's products, in particular 3D Vision. This is because I read a quality review and knew what to expect.

BUT

This is about 3D quality and ratings. How can you defend nVidia's ratings? They are bonkers. AAA games like Crysis 2 and DE:HR seem to have been VERY positively rated. You surely should recognise how poor the 3D is on both of these games. Have you 'unlocked' the 3D to get comparable depths to what many gamers enjoy? I have never managed to unlock the 3D to depth I enjoy without the 3D being frankly dreadful. (And yes I include myself in the 3D noob bracket that enjoys 100% depth, with just enough convergence to get popout.) Crysis2 is unplayable at depths beyond 75% because the halos around every object. DE:HR is also seriously effected, with many issues arising at high depths which are just not noticable at vanilla depths. I am sure nVidia increased the Crysis 2 rating because the devs added DX11 quality graphics! Didn't touch 3D incidently. So, will nVidia rate games purely on the quality of the 2D engine then?

Another more sensitive issue is about having multiple ratings. I think the larger net foorprint the better really - we are a niche market that needs expanding.

The example you provided demonstrates GG3D at its best, with links and fixes but that takes time to produce to that good standard. I work, have a family and need to sleep. I only have a small window to game. I always feel like I am doing my bit for 3D when I contribute to GG3D because I know I am making a difference. I wish I could provide quality entries to it but I simply do not have time.

A quick review on a thread like this, where everyone already know what I mean by, "Brilliant! It even has a 3D mouse. HUD is 2D but so what" See these 3 choice screenies" barely takes any time at all!

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Andy, you made good points and I agree with them. I too enjoy GG3D and have added a few entries myself, even some games that had no information on there previously. As for posting results elsewhere, expanding the footprint of 3D gamers, as you call it, can only be a good thing.

I am greatly concerned about the success of 3D Vision, as I can't imagine playing games without it anymore. It would be a real shame for it to die out. Are there any big name titles on the horizon that are advertising 3D ready? As worthless as that rating has become, it still breathes life into 3D gaming as a whole, just because of the anticipation and the marketing, and, as we have seen with The Witcher 2, it holds the developers to a certain standard that must be met sooner or later. As of right now I can't think of any big titles on the horizon that advertise 3D ready, and that concerns me. That all depends on the devs individual attitudes towards 3D gaming, and so far, only a handful of the BIG studios has shown interest.

@ Eqzitara: I too was interested in Game of Thrones, but was hoping to see a 3D rating on it first! I will be eagerly awaiting that review!

Hi, I've pre-ordered Darksiders II and will review it as soon as it's released. (well depends upon that you mean by review: do you need a complete runthrough first, or just a 3D review based on say, the fist chapter?)

Hmm.. I didnt quite figure that out tbh and you can use your own judgement. Perhaps a small initial review for big games when games come out maybe a paragraph a couple of screenshots then if you ever want to revise it go ahead. Or just mention on thread you have the game but will write it later on just so people know you havent forgotten. Two month can be a long time for some games and stuff happens. Keep in mind you don't have to review game, just the 3d aspect(namely issues). Also even if you can't use helix debugger if when you are about to write review you can mention if it does/does not work with the game that would be great. Because that pretty much means issues will always be there unless game developer patches it.

Multiple people can preorder same game. I can list multiple names. If you are getting a game not on list I can always update it. I only checked steam and amazon for big name releases.

Updated: Mainlist with preorders. Max Payne 3 claims "3D READY" and is apparently dx11. If its true thats awesome. Guess we will see. I am only a little hopeful. They keep saying 3d ready not even mention nvidia, tridef, whatever.
