PhysX drivers and older game versions
I've got PhysX driver version 9.10.0513 installed on my EVGA GTX 480 right now. All my games that use PhysX are presently working without a hitch. What I'd like to know is can I install an older game that I know has an older version of PhysX included on the install disk than what's on my system without any issues? And will this game (Velvet Assassin, 2009) work OK with my newer PhysX driver? I've heard a lot of horror stories about some game installing another version of PhysX, only to mess up another game on the same system. I've also read that PhysX won't install an older version over a newer one, so is that true as well?

I've never had a game install ask me to install PhysX. It's always been done "automatically", for my "convenience" I suppose. If it tries to install over a newer version, will it be automatically terminated or will it try to overwrite the newer files instead?

I always terminate it, because one time it installed older 8.xxx instead of 9 even though i had 9.xx installed..

OK, my next question is how do I terminate it when it may not even tell me it's going to install it. I've had 2 games install PhysX without any kind of prompt that would allow me to stop the installation. It was just installed. However, this will be the first game install with an older version of PhysX than the one presently on my system, so maybe it will prompt me now? If so, that would be great.

Yeah i had that too, but in the end it ignored it.. I guess there is nothing you can do there, maybe double check driver info to see if its still at the latest.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll cross my fingers, create a restore point and keep track of the PhysX version before and after the game install and hope the older version doesn't want to overwrite the newer version.
