990FX 680 sli surround issue
  1 / 10
hey guys i was wondering if anyone with a 990fx board is having issues in 2d surround sli and if so do you know of any fix? my specs are fx 8120 @4.4ghz 16gb 2133 ram 2 asus 680 sli 3 asus 24" 1080p monitors. when trying to game at 5760x1080 i get maybe 10fps max in any game i'm hoping this is a driver issue that will be resolved soon otherwise i will go back to my 570sli set up and return these cards

Try this driver and check how it works out.

http://download2.msi.com/files/downloads/dvr_exe/nvidia_30083_764_vga.zip
Unfortunatley that driver does not work either I,ve tried everything I know of besides a clean install of windows and I don't want to do that either... hopefully a fix is in the works

Did you try driver sweeper to get rid of all the traces of the old driver? If you do, remember to boot in safe mode to use driver sweeper effectively.

I am convinced its the motherboard, I've tried everything and nothing works

so just a quick update the new beta drivers have not fixed the issue either looks like its going to have to be a return and swap for 7970's

Running a Crosshair V here driving 3 x 27" Asus Ve27's Surround runs fine with Unique heaven benchie - a near 50% increase over my pair of overclocked 6950's from a single Asus 680!!

Swtor is definitely running better, don't have a benchmark, but in game smoothness, and the floating in game FPS meter is higher.

So, hopefully they get things fixed for you guys. running those latest drivers - Did have a nightmare after removing the Ati/Amd software - it wiped my usb drivers! No usb mouse/keyboard or PS2 input, not even in safe mode :( - took like 3 hours to get it back ..

Well Fella's, Just installed a 2nd 680 into my Crosshair V this afternoon, made sure all the drivers were as new as i can get - bios is current, tried with 310, and 324 beta drivers and experience the same damned thing you guys have. played with adaptive vsync settings, fxaa etc etc ...nothing changes!
FPS drops to between 4-7 fps in every game and benchmark I have tried with the 2 cards in SLI !!

I have tried both single and double bridges

Killowatt power meter shows I never went above 275 watts power consumption, so the cards are NOT being pushed.

I have both cards in PCIe 2.0 x16 lanes - confirmed in the bios.

what a joke! over 1100.00 and countless hours messing around trying to fix a problem that shouldn't exist!

Yup i just made this account to reply to these threads to say this also happened to me too. single gpu works fine for surround and also 3d vision using one screen but when i sli these cards and tried to play in full screen the fps caps to 5 in surround and 3d vision is a no go also ofc. stop pulling out your hair dude :P it's new tech it's should be expected.

hahaha now you're getting it. But yeah this current system is based on capitalism and seems like what the masses have; gets priority over the less popular product :P, sad huh.

Sounds like an SLi issue that'll be resolved in future driver updates... we hope. I had issues like this with my 580s in Surround in BF3, waited over 2 months for a driver update to fix it, but the problem persisted (bad GPU load balancing resulting in massive FPS drops).

I'm not one to promote the other team, but I'm running 7970s in Eyefinity and have zero issues with Heaven 3.0 or any other game for that matter.

680s are young, the drivers need work, it's the same with every new card. You can either give it time, or swap...

Perhaps someone with 680s in SLi & Surround & an Intel setup can shed some light on whether or not this is an AMD CPU/Board compatibility issue with 680s or not.

I'm not sure if it is a 680 issue or an AMD motherboard issue. But I have never experienced it in several Intel builds. It is pretty much the only reason I stick with Intel.

Strangest part is there are lots of people with 990fx and 580 SLI setups - even 3-way SLI worked with that generation...

A new day, more trial and error ...I'm stubborn that way! :)
