Could this hurt kepler sales? "Rumors" stated that Nvidia wanted to release in the general timeframe as Ivy Bridge.

I think my rig overhaul will come when 7xx series comes out of Nvidia

I may pick up a replacement for my 2500K cause my chip is quite poor compared to other 2500K's but, it looks like Ivy is only going to be like 15% more efficient then SB's already ludicrous efficiency. I mean, with AMD casted out, there is no reason for Intel to really do anything more...But, the longer it takes them to bring it out, the longer I have till i'm tempted to spend money again.

People do buy new graphics cards without changing the other hardware.

Correct... but, some people are awaiting Ivy for a full new setup (I'm one of them) - cannot really choose GPU(s) until the motherboard has been chosen (so we know what we have to work with) & cannot choose motherboard until they are released (when Ivy is released - maybe even Ivy-E)
Meh, gives me longer to design my case lol

x68 motherboard for Ivybridge, and x79 motherboard for Ivybridge-E, there you go. Yes Ivybridge use same socket as Sandybridge, and Ivybridge-E use same socket as Sandybridge-E.

You got Sandybridge-E that came out in November 2011, it's a much better choice than waiting for the normal Ivybridge.

that's p67, z68 and z77 for 1155 should handle ivy (Ie all 1155 Motherboards) however on older boards you will not get all functions ability of Ivy

x79 for ivy-e

Yeah, I'm just wondering if they push back Ivy; will that mean that Ivy-E will also be pushed back?? TBH, as it stands, there's no 1155 boards that suit me and only 1x 2011 that comes close... hence hoping for new boards on Ivy's release - or I'll have to wait til Nov :(

What is it you're looking for in a board that none have now?

Man I couldn't be happier with a 2600k and 580 sli.... maybe a little time is a good thing. To let the little stuff go by and when the next build comes everything will be ready. I have noticed Nvidia and Intel getting close. Prolly why there raising prices on the gpu's. I am sure we will see a 1000$ flagship gpu. Ill tell you one thing. If I had known the little difference between 570 sli and 580 sli, I would have never upgraded. If you get my drift.

Given the price of AMD's products, and the fact that the first Keplar is rumoured to be $300, and it will only be the "560" of this generation, I have no doubt the flagship card will be nearing $750 like the good old days of the 8 series.

Also why I'm hesitant to pick up an AMD 7950 now, even though it looks like AMD is a better route for me this time around. Then again, I don't really need to be buying anything, but hell, if it's that much more efficient, and faster then my 570, and I sell the 570's, not much lost.

It's almost never worth buying the flagship over the runner up. A 580 isn't worth the $100 over the 570. Like....at all.

7 PCIe slots (limits it quite a bit)
No slot smaller than a PCIe x4 physical size (further reduction)
PCIe x8 or greater speeds - ideally anyway (limited to dual socket workstation boards and MSI's Big Bang II... not sure of all the Big Bang's specs either /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />)
I don't ask for much lol - in fairness, the UD9 and the 4-way classy had such features.
