Flight Sim 2004 HD settings Looking for...
Hi there !

I'm looking to give my game a better look by making it HD. I don't know if its possible with my current hardware config, but I saw a video of a guy that tunned up his PC (with 9800GT gpu) and made FS2004 look like in HD.

I don't really have much knowledge on Graphics and Over clocking, but I wonder if its possible.. Also, I've been experimenting with my graphics card to see which settings suit my PC best for optimal Performance/quality balance, but I have this strong feeling that I could get more out of my PC.

Here's my PC's Specs.

AMD Athlon II "Triple Core" 3.3 GHZ 1.5MB total Cache (model number AMD X3 455) Overclocked with UCC feature on Mother board to unlock aditional Core.

AsRock Mother board "N68-VS3 UCC", front side Bus 1000 mhz, support for Hyper Transport.

500 Watts Acteck PSU

200 GB Seagate IDE HD 7,200 rpm

500 GB Western Digital SATA II HD 7,200 rpm

6 GB DDR3, 1333 MHZ, Kingston RAM

Nvidia GeForce 9500GT, 1GB DDR2, PCI Xpress 2.0, High Def 1080p Display Support, Microsoft DX 10 shader support.

GATEWAY FPD1760 TFT LCD Display Max Resolution 1280 x 1024, 17" (connected via VGA)

64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate sp 1

Additional Info. I can run GTA IV with ease on medium to high settings, also I can play Crysis 2 with Medium settings, (and I believe that those 2 games are by far more sophisticated than Flight Simulator)

This is my Flight Simulator Set up.

Flight Sim 2004 Update 9.1
REX for FS2004
Squawk BOX
Ground enviroment PRO
Night Enviroment PRO
FlyMex Scenery

Locked at 33 FPS
Scenery and Autogen: Very dense
Terrain detail:None
Water detail: High
Texture size: High
Mesh complexity: 90
Sun glare
Extended terrain textures
Trilinear Filter
MipMapping: 5
Hardware lights: 5
Global max texture size: Massive
1280x1024x16 resolution

Detailed clouds density:Low (same than below, any higher the FPS drop)
3D cloud percentage: 30 (If I go higher the FPS drop drastically)
Aircraft detail: High
Traffic: 30%

I used NVidia Inspector to set up anti Alias at 4x Multisampling
Anisotropic Filter: 2x
Gama correction: ON
Line gamma: enabled
Texture filter Quality: performance

The game runs pretty fine with this settings (looks OK and FPS are OK), but since I love my game much, and since I currently have no more $$ to make any further investment on a new Graphics card. What do you think guys? Is it possible to get more juice out of my Hardware config? Is it possible to go High Def?, or am I aiming too high? If HD is not possible, do you have any tips or tricks to get better graphics?

Any experiences, suggestions, tips or tricks are apreciated :)

Thanks !!!

By the way, sorry for my sloppy english. Its not my main language :P
