What case for this rig ?
Hi guys,

I have absolutely zero knowledge in casing so I'll need your help choosingone for this new rig I'm building right now:
Thanks

I would like the most discreet case possible. (plain black or something like that)
I hate bling bling, colored light, design, sticker or any damn flashy things... All I care of for this case is performance, cost saving and ease of access. It can be silent but it's really not a big deal.
Anything else I should specify ?

CPU: i7 2600K
Mobo: ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970 (will go Crossfire in a year or so)

this is not an AMD forum, if you were using Nvidia gpu's you would be in the correct forum

nothing is wrong with AMD but you should ask on an AMD forum so they can help you better if you have any gpu questions.
for cooling your cpu i use air cooling and just use a 120mm fan cooler that has at least 4 heat pipes as mine does and my cpu is 16c to 22c at idle as it has 6 cores and not all cores have the same temp, and at load it is 48c to 59c some cores are hotter then others. for a case i allways choose full towers with good wire managment as wires in the way can cause your fans air flow to go wild all over the case and not cool very well, Coolermaster and Corsair are very good cases, coolermaster will cost less then corsair.

Well i would say a coolermaster HAF X 942 case as it is a huge case, great for cable management, plenty of space and it also has a red fan on the front to match the ati colour scheme :)

Not a preacher (or a retailer) here but something you might want to consider is Not skimping on the chassis you choose...which if chosen carefully can last years and years of system upgrades/rebuilds.
I'm still looking for a justification to replace mine and can't find one.

Advise looking into Corsairs Or Fractal Designs catalogs for a start. Can't go wrong with any of them...and hardly a gaudy LED fan or unnecessary recess in sight.

JLH, you need to learn to be nice dude. That was just plain rude.

To the original poster: If you're okay with dusting regularly, the Antec LanBoy Air has great airflow & cooling for Dual/Tri-Card setups. I love this case. It's portable if needed, sturdy, mod-able & has great airflow... the only major minus is it's a bit of a dust magnet.
