Weird Skyrim Bug on GTX 590 Quad-SLI
Hi everyone, when I run Skyrim on Single-GPU by switching the Multi-GPU rendering mode to Single GPU, the artifacting that I get stops. When I enable Quad-SLI or 4-GPU Alternate frame rendering 2, the NVIDIA recommended setting, I get this weird water bug that you can see when I approach water. Also, when my character runs through water, the ripples do not appear. On a single GPU mode they do. When my partner runs through the water, ripples do appear but they flicker and flash.

Here are links to full-size screenshots taken from my steam community page:

Any ideas as to why this happens? I am pretty confused, I hope it is not a hardware related issue.

You just made me remember I get this problem too. It never bothered me that much but still annoying when it happens. I believe it only appears for me too when I enable SLI.

It is not a Hardware Problem. It is a known Application-Bug. Bethesda is hopefully fixed this Issue with a Patch.

I am glad to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. Hopefully we get our fix soon XGLX! Thank you for the reassurance Blaire.

That's rather funny because I got this problem with Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion and Skyrim.
Shouldn't have Bethesda noticed it by now?
This problem has been present for ages in "TES like" Bethesda games but still no fix whatsoever.
Also, it only happens when SLI is enabled. It seems to me that its a problem with the SLI but Nvidia didn't fix it.
Either way, I've had this problem for so much time that I don't even care anymore.
In fact, I ran out of hope for a fix.

These are Application Bugs and a Matter of Bethesda, I'm not sure if this SLI Bugs ever fixed.

Just run in single card mode til it's fixed... you don't need Quad-SLi to run this game anyway X_x lol Not even close to necessary.

coldfusions fix works - enabling 3D fixes the bug as well as enabling HDR lighting.

But you do not even need a multi GPU setup for this game to max it out. (448 560Ti or higher/equivalent)

I can fully max it out with a single stock 7950 - and yes that includes the various popular mods.

Might be time to put down the bong? On Ultra settings @ 1920x1200 with high res texture mods and various .ini tweaks, I am maxing out two 480s in SLI at 100% GPU and memory usage.

Finally someone figured it out.
You... Are... My... Hero...
Very silly though, I've been having this problem since Oblivion and only now someone figured a workaround.
I would be ashamed if I worked for Nvidia.
At least it is fixed now, or almost.
