"PC DirectX 11 Issues Please Read
We have received reports of performance issues from players of Batman: Arkham City on PC. After researching the matter, we found that running the game with DX 11 is causing the performance issues. We’re working on a title update to address this matter and expect to make it available in the near future.

In the meantime, a workaround for this issue is to run the game with DX 9 instead of DX 11. Instructions on how to turn off DX 11 are listed below.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience with your gameplay experience and thank you all for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

Instructions for changing DX 11 to DX 9

No wonder I'm still playing most games on Windows XP, DirectX9.. and no wonder why more games are forced to be DX9 compatible in turn.

Yet once again after many have complained about the NVidia drivers it comes out that the issue was caused by the game developer.

In the past, NVIDIA has released "optimized" drivers for many different titles. Therefore, for people who don't know any better, NVIDIA must be the one to blame.

I must admit I am amazed this did not come up in testing.
GeforceUK.com even had a screenshot from DirectX11 tessellation of Batman yet still the game was released with a broken DirectX11 path. I hope that the next forceware driver finally resolves the long running and entirely reproducible crashes with Batman AA when PhysX is set to HIGH and you play he Challenge Mode maps of "Invisible Predator" and "Invisible Predator Extreme". Reproduced on a GTX 570 system, 580 system , my 580 3GB and another forum member's 590.

Got the game for free with my card.

After entering my CD key about 20 times, installing Games for Windows (which is insanely annoying...why do I need this when its through steam anyway) and then going through the horrible console port menus, I was hit with insanely bad performance.

Honestly the 5 minutes or so I played showed me why the game was free anyway and even if they fix these issues it didnt seem worth playing.

This is absolutely unbelievable, NVIDIA. The game was delayed for FIVE WEEKS after the console versions and it's a The Way It's Meant To Be Played-endorsed title; its DX11 features and PhysX been hyped to death on this very site in the form of features and promotional videos and now upon release we're told to use DX9 while you fix DX11 because it stutters?!?!

I have to ask but why the heck was DX11 not tested before the game's release? What is the point of TWIMTBP if games are still released broken and for NVIDIA cards too. It's the kind of embarrassing gaff I'd expect AMD to make, not NVIDIA. I have to say that I'm disappointed that this is yet ANOTHER game which we have to wait for a fix before we can play it properly on maximum settings. Personally, I'm getting sick of it and I've started to wonder if it isn't best to wait a month or three before buying games; that way most of the problems will have been fixed!

it's likely they were using specialized drivers during there tests that contained features not available in any public driver release, resulting in the poor performance for the general public. Now both Nvidia has to release drivers incorporating such features and Rocksteady need to develop work arounds for the features Nvidia can't properly implement in time.

In this hypothetical situation, both parties are to blame.

If people experiencing sutters are using Intel core i7 based processors you may wish to look intothis little trick here.
Some sort of bug with Windows 7 Power Management's Core Parking Feature is causing some performance related issues in Applications and suttering in games with Core i7's when SMT (HT) is enabled.

Im using this tweak for quite a while :), i made its own profile

But it doesnt help. Although It can be quite handy in audio apps. ^^

Anyway all U3E games that stutter because of this poor/weak streaming code are Batman AA and now AC, Bulletstorm, Alice, Homefront.

And while i was typing this i noticed something all 4 have something in common: what? physx, bingo!/down.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Mirrors edge somehow runs good, but i remember it had some streaming issues too one time, with some 169.xx? driver..

I'm starting to think whether or not to play games anymore. I wont play any console games being they are over price for visually crud graphics and un-moddable, FPS you cant use a keyboard or mouse and such as the xbox you need to pay £30-£40 for Live Gold plus they get their bugs too. Now pc games are being designed and programmed not to work properly on release.

When can we get a AAA next gen PC game on release date (with the consoles), with all features in the pc version available (ie DX11, Phsyx etc) "in the box", no major bugs (i understand there maybe a few tiny ones) but not like Arkham City or RAGE etc - WHEN & WHAT GAME?

I think ever since PC demos and leaked beta's have deteriorated from being released to the public, PC game releases have got worse. (being no public feedback can be given) I bet if they're was a pre-release demo of rage, arkham city they both wouldn't have such disgraceful bugs. I don't remember any major bugs for the original batman arkham asylum.

I'm hoping there will be a patch ready from the 25th in the UK. So the UK and the other countries that follow wont have to suffer (of disappointment and from rage) like the US have - plus it wont look so bad on the devs & publishers any more then it has - at least they proven they care!

Just disable anti-aliasing to get better frame rates on DX11.
