Trine 2

Hi all

Trine 2 Beta was updated today in Steam.

The developer added 3d support. The game now looks amazing in 3d. The only thing we saw is in game depth and convergence aren't hooked into our driver. We've uniformed the developer. Enjoy!

Just tried the beta, 3D is amazing, just like in a first Trine, even better because of overall graphics improvement:)

Does that mean they all wear nVidia shirts now? (teehee, just had to do it)

Awesome news, thanks!!! I Asked on their forum to add it and they said they would, I just didn't think it would be this soon!!!

I was playing the beta today again this time on my 3d projector.

All I have to say is wow. This game is beautiful and has a wonderful synergy of artwork and music.

If anyone hasn't tried this game yet, do it! This is a no brainier to buy it for 14.99 now on Steam. I encourage everyone to do it and support developers that put time into making a wonderful 3d game.

I totally agree Andrew, the original was a hidden gem and the sequel is looking to be very awesome.

They are a small group and really listen to their customers, and have made a great little game in the Trine series. Just as you said, very very strong artistically both musically and visually, and physics based game-play mechanics that are a lot of fun to go with it. The price tag is a joke, the game is worth a lot more.

I got about 1/2 way through Trine 1 in 3D and then post 279.xx drivers the 3D is totally busted (red text pops up on the nvidia overlay). Any idea if the original game will be fixed... I'd love to finish it in 3D before this one comes out

I just fired up the first one again last night after reading this thread (got past 1st level I think after 1.08 made it 3D Vision Ready?) and had similar issues.

What I ended up doing to get it working was:

Disable 3D Stereo on start-up in NVCP.

Keep 3D Vision off until you actually start or load a game and you're in the side-scrolling view

Hit Ctrl-T and 3D Vision should work fine, both side-scroll and in the menus (2D but no red error msg or 1-eye flicker).
I think they actually improved their 3D Vision support a bit as I'm pretty sure the cursor was still 2D for the Wizard last time I played it. Its rendered in 3D now, so the effects are pretty much perfect. The only minor gripes for me now are the icon/hp and contextual cues (gamepad or keyboard hints) are still in 2D, so they are pretty easy to miss because you are so immersed in the 3D aspects of the game. The 3D is really fantastic though, especially with the art direction, multiple object and effects, and varied level designs. Will have to add this to my list of showcase 3D games.

Last thing though, didn't really play enough to check last night, but is rumble working on XBox 360 wireless controller for everyone else?

Yeah just browsed through, really, really nice.

It also looks as if they made the character HP/indicator overlay 3D as well with a slight transparency to them. I'm guessing the contextual cues and text are also in 3D. Really outstanding, Andrew if you could get other developers to do this for their 2D/text/icons rendered at screen depth to be slightly sunken in and rendered in 3D also, that would make a huge difference and fix a lot of the problems in countless games.
