Batman Arkham City Eventually at least
  1 / 12
Well I seem to have the worse luck with these kinds of things, a month ago I accidentally thought that It was the release of Batman AC.....ok so that is my fault, today I go down to the store, cash in hand, ready to hand it over and pay the full retail despite knowing I could get it cheaper on the net and have it delivered the next day, and I am greeted with big marketing posters about Batman AC and how its finally out....today!

Except its only on console! which is NO consolation. (btw the marketing posters never specified which platforms, it just said 19 October)

I do not mind developers holding back a game to make it perfect, but lol come on, can you really delude yourself into believing that is the reason why this has happened....AGAIN!

Yes, Batman AA was pretty well near perfect, AFTER it was patched and several annoying bugs fixed....it was ALSO held back and it clearly was NOT for perfecting it. So I find it difficult to believe that this is happening AGAIN for the same reason.

You can say, well, they are adding PhysX support in for the PC and that is great, except for the fact it still sends the message the PC crowd are an AFTER THOUGHT, and many people will be of the opinion that the PhysX effects themselves, are a cheap, gimmicky, after thought. Helped in no way by not making the release simaltaneous.

Anyway.......sucks!

Yeah I said to the guy I guess I will have to play Rage.

With no SLI (not that it even seems to need it) and at a fraction of what the engine is supposedly capable of.

Going to follow this guide to tweak it up a bit though

I think you will find you do not even need to run SLI to make it smooth, but I am going to install that driver version anyway and give it a go.

One reason why I like Amazon pre-order + release day shipping. They notify you on when there is a delay in release date.

But I still have to say, it is bs. PC gamers are after thoughts to many developers. Look at all the trends, release day patches to change "Start" to "Enter" and release day delays. I'm glad I'm only paying $50 (10 less than console version) for this bs.

I wouldn't say pc is an afterthought, the pc version according to warner brothers will be the "definitive version". The fact is, consoles are the leading platform for most publishers and developers.

Dude they say that to give the terminally positive people of the world something to say to incurable pessimists such as myself. The reality is that it will be the same game with physx bolted on to it...as an after thought. and ill bet there will be problems with it come release day. despite this delay. its poor form i think. Sure the game will be one of the best this year. but imagine how much better it could be if we were not an after thought

How is it considered poor form to make implementations that cater to unique hardware capability? "Arkham City," much like "Arkham Asylum," began the development process on PC prior to the console platforms. It was an inevitable delay as they are programming for DX9-11 in correct algorithms versus that seen in "Crysis 2" where later features (DX11) were incorrectly introduced. Building with tessellation from start to finish is much different than simply picking objects within an asset library to apply an overlapping effect.

I assure you, Rocksteady ltd. does not view the PC collective as an "after thought." If they did, well pronounced exclusive features would go unattended to. I assure you the game will be as close to immaculate as possible upon release. Unlike the countless other developers, the studio builds with recent driver releases. That in itself is a huge plus for eliminating anomalies that would otherwise be produced at launch.
