SLI (AFR) windowed Just curious
  1 / 2
Lately I seen few Nvidia owners who claimed that SLI works in windowed mode and both GPUs are loaded.
I know that Nvidia Quadro support SLI in windowed mode. Though I didn't found any info about Alternate Frame Rendering in windowed games.

Currently I have two HD6950 in CrossfireX. Latest drivers and CAPs are installed. I tested few games in DX9-DX11 modes.
And I found that CrossfireX doesn't work in windowed mode. Its stated in ATI's FAQ so I wasn't suprised.

Now I'm curious if NVidia developed something new to use SLI in windowed games.
Can somebody of respectable SLI owners record a video where MSI Afterburner and windowed game will run together to show GPUs load percentage ?

You can force windowed games to run in SLI with (almost) equal load on both GPUs... Will post some screenshots after work if I remember.
LOL, YEAH! Who want's to run in windowed

Thank you !
Do I need to tweak some settings to force SLI for windowed applications ?

On a second screenshot "Mode: 1280x1024 fullscreen". But CrossfireX works in fullscreen just well too...

It all(and even more) can be tweaked with RadeonPro or ATI tools.
But what should I tweak to force SLI/Crossfire for windowed applications/games ?
Do I need to flash a BIOS or change some registry keys ?

Nope, read post #6 again look at NVCP.

OK, I have these settings. I can force Crossfire for specified game, run it with specified driver version, force AFR for any game. But what about windowed. Do you know how to force it or just trolling :) ?:

Thank you for spending time on replies to me. But I looking for certain information.
Now I know that windowed Heaven benchmark can utilize both NVidia GPUs in some circumstances. Thank you RaptoR!

So I'm wondering what should I do to optimize SLI in windowed mode if I would have Nvidia cards. Maybe it will work with ATI too.
I heard forcing 3D clocks through VBIOS flashing helps. But I don't know if its true.

So please if you have some information post it. I guess its not so hard to stay on topic.

So what are you running? ATI oops AMD GPU's or Nvidia GPU's?

As I said, currently I have two ATI HD6950. I have no problems at all excepting windowed games.
But I would buy NVidia if SLI works well in windowed mode.
