310M Brightness Control Lenovo Z560 No brightness control after 260.99
So,

I just picked up a Lenovo Z560, and part of setting it up upgraded the Nvidia drivers to the latest from Nvidia's site. I didn't notice right away, but doing this stopped any ability to control screen brightness. Mine was stuck on FULL BRIGHT. Some googling lead me to it being a driver issue, and said that any Nvidia drivers after 260.99 would disable the brightness control from working.

This driver is from October, 2010 so it's been broken for a while now...

Is this a known issue with a coming fix or am I stuck with an old driver?

Hello, i solved this problem.
On my notebook Lenovo Z560 installed Nvidia card 310M with
id:
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A70&SUBSYS_396D17AA
driver:
275.33-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql

Two variants of solve this problem:
1 - I have find on registry a few parametr EnableBrightnessControl, end delete it. After restart notebook, Brightness control - work!
2 - In inf driver file NVLT.inf i find info for my device:
...
[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0]
...
%NVIDIA_DEV.0A70.04% = Section066, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A70&SUBSYS_396D17AA
...
[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]
...
%NVIDIA_DEV.0A70.04% = Section067, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A70&SUBSYS_396D17AA
...
[Section066]
...
AddReg = nv_miscBase_addreg__32
...
[Section067]
...
AddReg = nv_miscBase_addreg__32
...
[nv_miscBase_addreg__32]
...
HKR,,EnableBrightnessControl,%REG_DWORD%,1
...
delete on section [nv_miscBase_addreg__32] this string: HKR,,EnableBrightnessControl,%REG_DWORD%,1
and save file.
But if edit driver file - driver is unsigned.

If nvidia drivers engineers have delete this string on section of inf driver, we have work brightness control on new driver.

But if edit driver file - driver is unsigned.

If nvidia drivers engineers have delete this string on section of inf driver, we have work brightness control on new driver.
