So we must hand it over to our tame PC tweaker. Some say he sticky tapes a block of uranium to his dinner before eating it and that he sucks moisture out of ducks. All we know is, he's called Hooks.

I'll be picking up the game tomarrow. Looking forward to it actually. Cryengine 3 impressed me when it was first announced in that it would be able to run on low end and high end pc's alike. Hopefully they'll patch Crysis 2 eventually to run dx11 but I'm alright with it being dx9.

Now for some really bad news...

I am having a really really difficult time finding anyway to manipulate the engine as is; without having critical or game breaking elements appear of course.

This points directly to console port related handling of the game, with no thought to how the PC would plug-in customization to the existing parameters.

Simply put, until I get the tools needed, and "CryTek" finishes this title, do not look for much in forms of functional "advanced configurations" as you saw with the first. At least not from me...

I am trying my best with the time I have, if I find anything worth mention, that reaches past the simple options in-game, and is stable enough to use. I will post it immediately.

Do not take my above comments as a deterrent from the game. This could only be temporary, and a plan from CryTek to go hand-in-hand with a much larger PC specific update.

So far, the only things I've been able to accomplish outside of the in-game is to force AA on the GTX 470s. I intend to use the time between now and the PC package just to re-learn the controls from C1, then maybe concentrate on tweaks.

More fun than beating your head against the wall for now...

Update:

Most target variables seem to be on a 1-3 scale similar to "Crysis." I am working on test matter through a created .cfg.

I should also note that the expanse of variable commands is much more slim, and a target list is unavailable. So for the time it is trial and error with the use of a well trained eye. I will post any findings I feel prudent to the game's overall appearance or operation. Additionally, the command format in which "Crysis 2" follows is unique to the title, discovery of commands that have gainful impact is quite difficult. I might be onto something...

EDIT: Thresholds/Limits for environmental content appear to be placed on a 0.0 scale ranging to the ten-thousandth power.

EDIT #2: I was correct on the previously stated 1-3 variable look at next comment...use at your own risk, I am still figuring things out.

Tested and confirmed direct handling of individual parameters relating to graphics configurations and performance listed below:

These settings can be individually altered in variables of 1-3:

EDIT: I have attached the currently updated command list for .cfg files placed within the "Crysis 2" folder. Many of these are not tested, so you are again urged to use at your own risk. Similar to the first Crysis a .cfg file containing these command variables will alter the games parameters during launch.

Also note that these were the items which 90% of high quality modifications used in addition to Sandbox created material to squeeze the most out of the engine.

These may also be used for discrete optimizations.

Download and use aat your own risk, I accept no responsibility for damaged software or hardware. Enjoy! /cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It's fun game. One level has a prominate lighting flicker bug though and you can definitely tell this game is dx9. LOD distance objects look aliased and blurry at times. Still it's a decent port and gameplay is well done.

edit: Found another level that has the lighting flicker bug. It looks like just the levels with wet surfaces suffer from this glitch.

I am working on in-engine LOD/MSAA currently.

The lighting issue deals with the refraction and adaptation base numeric amount. In simple terms, the offset for HDR is way too high...they have been watching far too many "Killzone 3" in-game videos. The adjustments are similar to the first, so after I figure out a good balance the lighting should be corrected along with adaption base.

It is full of anomalies after the first bridge scene(all I will say), that area is patch remedy, and out of my league without an SDK.
