Dead Space 2 and 3DTV Play 1920x1080 24hz? How do I enable 1920x1080 24hz in Dead Space 2???
Today I've tried Dead Space 2 for the first time with 3DTV Play and I loved, but I wasn't able to make DS2 work in 3D at 1920x1080 24hz, just 1280x720 60hz??? Has anyone that has 3DTV Play been able to make Dead Space 2 work in 3D at 1920x1080 24hz??? For some reason the game doesn't support 24hz refresh, just 59, 60 and 75hz. Even when I choose 1920x1080 24hz in the Nvidia Control Panel and TV goes into 3D mode, if I start DS2 the game will play at 1920x1080 60hz,not 24hz, so it will be displayed in 2D, cause 3D at that resolution only works in 24hz with 3DTV Play software. I have even tried to choose other resolutions and then come back to 1920x1080 60hz,thsi workaround works for Just cause 2 and othere games when they enable 3D right away using 3DTV Play, but no matter what I do there's no way to activate 3D in this game at 1920x1080, at least I didn't figure out how?? If you try to play DS2 in 3D at 1920x1080 the infamous red message will be displayed in the bottom of my TV: 1920x1080 60hz is not a HDMI 1.4 resolution......

I really wish I could play DS2 in 3D 1920x1080, cause it already looked awesome in 720p in a 63" plasma screen, but 1080p is the way to go in the big screen. I even think DS2 might be playable at 24fps, cause it's a slower game, not a fast scene actions title, so I would like to give it a try. The 3D quality in a big plasma screen is unbeatable, it overcomes my Alienware 23" by a long shot in 3D quality, colours and brightness.

Please, let me know if someone figures out how to enable 1920x1080 24hz for Dead Space 2????

I searched for this program and found version 2.21 from 2003! on softpedia. Could you share with us your settings and if this version is what you use? In the settings I could not find specific a 24hz option? Thanks for your help.

Ok, I had to switch on my TV first. In NVCP select 3D resolution 1080P/24hz and it shows in Refreslock. Good tip!

How do I use this refreshshock, so I need this tool in order to get 1920x1080 24hz 3D mode for Dead Space 2??? There's no other workaround??? The problem is that you can't choose 1920x1080 24hz in DS2 game settings, and even if you have your desktop resolution set to 1920x1080 24hz, DS2 will be played at 60hz.
I'll try this tool and see how it works. So, I must look in Google for refreshock, is that right, what version and model?????
I would apreciate some information on how to use it and make Dead Space 2 be played at 1920x1080 24hz 3D mode in my Sammy 63" Plasma TV.

Edit: I also found version 2.21 Refreshlock, I hope it runs fine in Windows 7 x64, this is an old software.
Let me see if I understand how it must be used, I need first to set my TV's desktop resolution to 1920x1080 24hz 3D mode in the Nvidia control panel right? Next, I open Refreshlock and set it to 24hz, and then just open Dead Space 2 in 1920x1080 that it will start as 24hz instead of 60hz refresh, is that all correct or am I missing something???

Cheers...

Why Woudn't??? It's the same thing, both TV's Samsung and Panasonic work under 3DTV Play and both need 24hz for 1920x1080 in 3D mode. It should work for sure....
What do you mean by TV's Nvidia had marked off??? This not a problem with Samsung 3DTV's, the problem is that Dead Space 2 doesn't accept 24hz, so you can only play in 3D in the big screen at 1280x720 60hz nasty resolution, unless you use Refreshlock tool and force 24hz.

Very interesting information, where can I find your post about Refreshlock tool???

I've tried it now and it really works, I was able to play Dead Space 2 at 1920x1080 24hz, sweet!!!!! I must say the DS2 is quite playable at 24fps, it's not a game that really demands more than 30fps, but 30 would be better than 24fps anyway.
I will finish Dead Space 2 using 3D Vision and my Alienware 120hz display, I'm now at chapter 10, then after I finish the game I'll definatelly play the game again, but this time with 3DTV Play and 1920x1080 24hz. I was waiting for a game that was playable at 24fps to finally play for good a game using my 63" Sammy 3D Plasma TV, cause I don't stand 1280x720 in the big screen. 720p kills the game's quality.

Also, if I disable Vsync when playing any game with 3DTV Play in 1080p or 720p, they become unplayable, tons of tearing and you get dizzy while moving arround. It's funny though that when playing games in 3D with 3D Vision on my Alienware 23" display it's ok to disable Vsync cause you don't feel the dizzy effect while moving. I guess this has to do with the 3D mode used by 3D Vision (frame sequential) that is completely different from Frame packing used by 3DTV Play.
Anyway I always play with Vsync on using 3DTV or my 120hz Display cause it's better for 3D.

I had to figure out how to force 24hz using Refreshlock tool, I didn't know you had to unckeck the box where it says: Always use the fastest safe frequency for mode. If I keep this box checked, than I coudn't enter 24hz for 1920x1080. Good tool and very needed for 3DTV Play owners.

I don't understand your post. The root cause of your problem isn't refreshshock, it's 3DTV Play. You have the right solution for your 63" samsung, 3D Vision, but you choose not to use it. If 3D Vision is dedicated to another display, then use either TriDef 3D or iZ3D, both have checkerboard. If you use one of these, then getting 1920x1080/24 to work is a non-issue, because you'll have 1920x1080/60.
Instead of asking "how can I make the wrong software work?" why not use the right software that will give you the best of all worlds, and without hacks that don't work? What am I missing??

good a game using my 63" Sammy 3D Plasma TV, cause I don't stand 1280x720 in the big screen. 720p kills the game's quality.

I don't like Tridef, I've used before and had terrible performance hit, plus those solutions were not made for GFX cards, Physx, Tesselation and SLI. I've tried Tridef with GTA IV, Left 4 Dead 2 and Mafia 2 and didn't like it very much. Plus Tridef and IZ3D are not free and I'm not going to buy it, I've already tried the trial period and didn't like the results. It's not compatible with a lot of games including Just Cause 2.

What do you mean I can use 3D Vision with my 63" Sammy 3DTV??? I can only use Samsung glasses with the TV, I can't use Nvidia 3D vision glasses it won't sync with my TV, plus this TV doesn't have a 3D sync out, so I can't connect 3D Vision IR receiver to the TV. I can't play 1920x1080 120hz 3D mode using my TV cause it doesn't have DVI-DL input. I'm sure you know that, I just want to know what do you mean that I can use 3D vision with my TV??? I really didn't get that.
If there was a way I would definatelly be playing it. I know I can play games using my TV with Tridef, IZ3D or 3DTV Play, but I don't know about 3D Vision, please explain me that?????? As far as I'm concerned 3D Vision is only compatible with 120hz displays that have a DVI-DL input.

Well, I think Dead Space 2 is somehow playable at 1920x1080 24hz, it's one of those few games that you can try to play with 24fps. I coudn't get 24hz in DS2, that's why I needed Refreshlock tool and it solved my problem.
Roller, we all hate 24hz and this limitation, but you must agree 1920x1080 frame packing in terms of quality and eye candy just kills Checkerboard used by Iz3D and Tridef, so I know I'll be playing Dead Space 2 in my 63"TV with the best 3D quality available. Frame packing is full resolution per eye and Checkerboard is half, that's a big deal of diference in 3D quality. I also hate 720p, so If I'm going to play a game using my TV it will be in 1080p 24hz. Lets hope for Nvidia to give us back Checkerboard, than we can forget about IZ3D and Tridef.....

Ok so I used this method to run Dead Space 1 at 1080/24hz. The refreshlock tool successfully gets the game to run in this mode and activate 3dtv play. However, framerates are HORRID...it is considerably less than 24fps. I have more than a capable system (sandy bridge i5 and GTX 570). It appears framerates are in the teen's, and my guess is that it's exactly half off 24 (12 fps). Disabling vysnc in game restores fluid framerates, but since vsync is off the 3d effect is "dizzy" when moving/turning. I think its a problem with the refreshlock tool itself, but not sure, i set it to everything mentioned in this thread and the link provided.

Anybody else experiencing this problem or have a workaround/alternative for 1080p/24hz?
