I'm having the same problem getting "Installation Failed" error message when attempting to install WHQL 266.58 (English) video driver package for my Asus ENGTX580/1536MB vidcard under Windows 7 Pro x64.
Nevertheless after a reboot, Device Manager> Display Adapter> Driver > Details *does* show the v266.58 drivers are installed.

However, nVidia Control Panel is *NOT* installed; I also tried running the nVCntrl Setup.exe (extracted into a subfolder under the extracted 266.58 folder), but that does *NOT* install the nVidia Control panel.
How can I install the nVidia Control Panel? (It isn't a separate download in any place I could find here).

Take a look at this post, where I got nVidia Control Panel installed and working without prior problems:

@Mart90:
Your best bet is to cruise thru the (300+) posts in this other forum thread:

Lots of people struggling, but some like me have gotten v266.58 drivers successfully installed
(my method is in there somewhere, around pg 13-14).
Good luck, fingers X'd for you.
