Hi,

When I try to run Mafia II, I got a "PhysX SDK not initialized. PhysX System Software will be installed." After clicking OK and another window appeared and started "Gathering required information..." After thats done, nothing happen.
So after that I downloaded the latest PhysX driver at http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.10.0513-driver.html, which is also included in Mafia II, and when it reached the step of "Removing applications", a box saying "The fature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." The content it is looking for is 'WIS54194F60988C4D03B922C2B00EFDA39A_9_10.
Error message obtained from Event Viewer are the following -
Product: NVIDIA PhysX -- Error 1714. The older version of NVIDIA PhysX cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1612.
I'm running on Windows XP

What is the solution to this? I saw a couple of threads with similar problem with no solution.

Thank you

I got that error too, or a very similar-looking one. After some forum wading, I found out there was something named "windows installer cleanup utility", and that fixed it for me. Or, at least, it fixed the install being able to finish install the PhysX driver.. I didn't get it to work (yet?), so maybe there still is some remnants left.

I downloaded it here: windows installer cleanup utility 7.2 (but it seems there are lots of other places/versions to download from).

Download, install the installer-cleanup-utility, run and remove the entry for the old PhysX driver. Then install the new driver.
It should work for all windows versions.

try the following:
go to MS fixit center http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/

run the fix choose "let me decide whether to apply this fix" or smth like that then "im having troubles uninstalling a program"
then you gonna be asked to choose a program to uninstall from the list, choose Not listed

then enter this physx product code {C186AFEE-E4D3-4248-A9B8-011CF4281AB2}

the product code can be found in the file properties, Details Tab

then apply the fix, then run it once again
and uninstall everything that has "Name Not Available" as a name
