1 / 6
You could use the old package.mft (BADCOMPANY2\Dist\win32) from the 529843 Patch (22.04.2010) and the good old 3D-Crosshair is back.
Works online aswell.

What's wrong with this picture, user releases fix before DICE or nVidia ??

Shoddy workmanship if you ask me.

On the other hand, great work by the OP, thanks for posting I'll be sure to give it a try.. N1 mate :).

AWESOME! Thanx dude! Worked like a charm. :)

Now why couldn't dice or nvidia tell us something like this long ago when the last patch was released?

Because like any company they have to walk through the red tape to ensure that it actually does the fix. It's probably a mandatory company policy as mandated by their Quality departments.

Nice find on the fix! Probably would've taken DICE 2 more months to get this fix out. That's how long they took to get this patch out that broke the crosshair and their excuses for why it took so long were wide-ranging, everything from railroad strikes to forces of nature lol. Sadly we're such a small minority of users that even a simple fix like this is very low on DICE's priority list. Also, to the guys complaining about Nvidia, this goes for pretty much anything that's crosshair/depth/post-process related. Nvidia cannot fix these application issues, they can only work with developers to get them to ensure compatibility with 3D Vision or allow us to turn incompatible features off, like a crosshair toggle so we can use Nvidia's laser sight.

Download the file and save it somewhere, desktop or the default Download folder.

Then navigate to wherever you installed BFBC2: %:\\Battlefield Bad Company 2\Dist\win32, default directory I think is: c:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield Bad Company 2\Dist\win32

You'll see a file called Package.mft, delete it or rename it to PackageOLD.mft. Then copy and paste the new one in this directory. Just confirmed and it works great, my guess due to the size of the files is they just didn't link to the 3D Ready assets. I would keep a copy of this Package.mft elsewhere in case DICE patches again and overwrites this file with a new one that doesn't include this fix, so you can just copy and paste the fixed version again later.

It's a shame that we fixed something in this game that should have never been broken. The crosshair was fine since release then they break it in a patch. Oh well, good find on the fix.

Could this possible trip cheat protection in multiplayer? Something to think about.
