FSX Multi Monitor Misery W7 + GTX 470s + FSX + DX10 = Frustration
Hello Chaps,

SITUATION
I've been messing with FS for a good few years now and am currently working on a large project involving FSX. I am currently working on the setup. The system specification is:

Chassis………….CoolerMaster HAF 932
Mobo……………..Asus P6T
PSU…………………Enermax ERV1250EGT 1250W Revolution
CPU………………..Intel i7 950 3.06GHz
RAM……………….OCZ 12GB 1600 Gold Tri-Channel DDR3
HDD……………….Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB
GFX………………..NVIDIA GTX 470 (x2)
SND………………..Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Series
VDU1……………..Viewsonic VX2433wm 24" LCD Monitor (HD1080)
VDU2……………..Optoma HD65 Projector (HD720)

OS…………………..Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
SOFT…………….…FSX GOLD (Accel/SP2). REX2. GEX EU
DRIVERS.........257.21

ISSUE
We're going for a "multi monitor" setup. With the panel on the monitor and horizon on the projection. Each display has a dedicated GTX470, which are not in Sli mode. I am able to "New View" then "Undock" and move it to the projection in DX9 mode. However when trying the same with DX10, both windows go black and the sim hangs leading to a CTD/fatal error.

Some might give waffle about "it's only a preview" etc. However the issue is significant. With nearly all settings maximized I am able to achieve the following framerates using the default flight (Friday Island) with various aircraft for testing (limited to 60FPS):

1920x1080 DX10, No SLi………………………..40-60
1920x1080 + 1080x720, DX10, No SLi…….0 CTD
1920x1080 DX9, No SLi………………………….15
1920x1080 + 1080x720, DX9, No SLi………8

Needless to say, DX9's rubbish performance with this card is prohibitive. I'm stuck
between a rock and a hard place. I either have both displays working as specified,
with utterly unworkable DX9 performance, or have only one display working with the
good DX10 performance and the other display completely redundant.

Both scenarios are not acceptable to the specification or aims of the project.

QUESTIONS/SUPPORT
1. The CTD is apparently caused by an NVIDIA driver dll (whichever driver version is used). Is this really the case or more to do with FSX's DX10 implementation?
2. What advice could you give with regards to solving this issue? The only acceptable solution is one that allows DX10 to function on both display outputs.
3. Is there any way to save view windows; their position, size, etc?
4. Is it possible to run a multi-monitor setup in full screen mode? I haven't been able to so far.

I suspect that this may be down to driver teething issues with a new card. In which case I guess I have to wait on NVIDIA to sort it out. However the large disparity between different user's/computer's success with FSX+DX10 suggests that it may be a configuration issue?

I would be most grateful for all and any assistance people can give. Especially those with similar hardware/problems.

DTS.
