Bad Company 2 DX10 SLI Issues
  1 / 2
Hey guys, basically, bad company 2 in DX10 mode hates SLI (I have a GTX 295). When SLI is on, the game has terrible stutter and some screen tearing. With it off, the problems are solved, but you take the expected performance hit. When DX9 is forced, SLI works fine, but you can't use AA. Does anyone know of a fix to this? Could someone either:

A.) help me force AA in DX9, seeing as when I try to do it with nvidia control panel nothing happens, or

B.) help me fix DX10?

Any help would be awesome.

There was supposed to be an SLI patch in the latest 196.75 driver - but thats been recalled due to fried cards and dead fans... Give it a day or so, there should be a replacement driver up soonish.

I turned on the SLI-o-meter thingy in nvidia control panel while I played and it was showing that both my 280 GTXs were being used. 196.21.

i use a 3-way SLI setup (3 GTX 280s) and using eVGA precision i can see that all 3 cards have the load balanced pretty easily (ranigng from 50% to 70%) all 3 cards are within 5% of each other on usage. Maybe the problem is just with the 295?

I can't get the game to work in dx10 with SLI enabled. Upon entering map I get a white screen, followed by either a game crash + display driver stopped responding error, a game crash with no display driver error, or a full system crash. I briefly used the latest driver with the same result before downgrading after the fan bug issues.

to summarize my experience:
dx10 + sli = crash
dx9 + sli = normal
dx10 + no sli = normal
dx9 + no sli = normal

Win 7 x64

2x GTX 260's in SLI (one is 216 cores and the other is 192? cores but this is said to no cause issues and hasn't in other titles)

Just a shot here but I have seen a lot of people with issues with this game that run it on W7 64. I did some tweaking on my sons pc and his machine runs DX10 all high setting great on Vista 32 bit.

Hello guys, I also run BC2 in DirectX10 because of AA and HBAO.
No surprise I had the same SLI stuttering issues until recently.
I managed to solve them however. The problem is the DX10 SLI profile in the 196.xx driver.

The hex value of the standard DX10 SLI profile is F5.
Simply install nhancer and change this to E5 in the "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" profile and
VOILA, no more stuttering (at least not SLI related  ).

Well, Knight, I was skeptical since my problems were more severe than others in the thread, but changing the profile to E5 worked like a charm! I no longer get app/system/driver crashes. You really made my day!

Thanks!

I know what you mean about a slow down in BFBC2...The new driver that was recalled, and the sad part is they had a PROFILE for SLI for BFBC2.. I used the recalled driver with out a fan speed checker and they work just fine, maybe if people had good system we wouldn't have the problem LOl, sorry about the prositive rebut, but the truth is not a lie end my case that is, I love to enjoy the fruits of high end hardware........CHEERS

Its not just SLI or 295's pic is BFBC2 all settings maxed in a full 32 man server.. 196.21 drivers....

17-25 FPS 1920x1200 MAx Quality Settings.... 30% GPU? something is wrong with the driver. Some have used 196.86 Laptop Drivers with a Modded INF file to fix the issue...........Click here to see... although this is for 64 bit not 32 bit OS....

This is after some one installed the driver, I can't as I have 32 bit system. Notice GPU Usage

I set the renderahead to 1 in the ini file. Using 196.75 drivers, I also use 3 GPU AFR in the SLI profile and it solves most of the major microstutter. Any of those might help.

Its true that the 196.xx drivers have certain problems in BC2 in general.
But this thread is specifically about SLI scaling and stuttering.

I personally use the 182.08 drivers and the above mentioned DX10 SLI profile hex value of E5.
This combination gives nice SLI scaling with my 280 GTX SLI and Core i7 (3.6 GHz) system.

Try it out and report back...The 190 drivers in general have some weird issues

Changing the SLI hex value as suggested in the thread actually solved the stutter, but now I'm stuck at ~35 fps no matter what the settings, so that's not an option either.

Hrm, I may try to use the laptop drivers and see if that does anything...

EDIT: Can't use them, no support for GTX 295. Boo.

Going to see if the 196.34 drivers do anything.

295GTXs vs BFBC2

295GTX's with there current drivers have huge fps issues on the new fps game BFBC2.

I'm not sure weither it's a driver issue or the game is very poorly optimized.

Here is a huge thread with alot of benchmarks, compalints and issues reported;

I average about 40-50 fps on BFBC2 on med or high, it doesnt change, it uses about 40-50% of my gpus too.

THIS IS A BIG ISSUE, 295GTX cards are getting the same fps as cards 5-10x slower and less expensive...that is not acceptable!

NVIDIA please look into this, as it has litrally stoped me from playing the game till its fixed...

EDIT, some people now saying they don't think it will ever be fixed, because of new nvidia cards coming out, if this was the case I think false advertising is a big issue here, anyway it hasnt come to that...yet.

Just look into this issue, If you need any more data just ask.

Thank you in advance
