COD MW2 "directx has encountered an unrecoverable error" help...?
i hat the same problem in mw1 but i got it going wint installing newest driver, although it made my screen 1024x720 from 1240x1024 when TV plugged in GPU, but after i made rollback driver, it ran fine (the game)
so i installed mw2 ..no problem...it installed dx... i try to run it...error. i download newest dx from Microsoft, same problem, install newest nvidia driver...same problem... rollback driver...same error.... what can i do...?

system specs: amd athlon 6000+ @ 3100 mhz,dual core, 9600GT Xtreme, 2 gb ram, win7 @ 32bit

in dxdiag, all is enabled

I think I fixed my game. I went to the Microsoft update site [url="http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us"]http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftu...t.aspx?ln=en-us[/url]. I installed all the high priority and optional updates And now it works. I dont know if it works for Vista or 7 but it did for XP.

Simple answer: You're screwed. There are lots of people having this error, but neither Infinity Ward ot Nvidia seems to care or able to solve it. There is also a [url="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1089375"]discussion on the steam forums[/url] about this problem.
