Counter-Strike: Source Problem...
  1 / 4
Apologies for the bump, but thought I'd mention this.

Until today I had Vista x32, no problems in CS:S, today I decided to install XP x64 and now I get the flickering issues, so it's something with the XP drivers. I realize 169 has fixed this, downloading now, but just thought I'd say this.

I know this thread is now almost 4 years old but guess what!!!!! The problem is back!! I have flashing shadows on all static items e.g tables, plants and pots, dead people and guns lying on the floor. I have 2 8800gtxs with 4 gb of ram. Phenom 2 965 CPU.
I have just installed the 290.99 drivers and no change. If I turn shadows to low it still happens. I've tried all settings like changing the aa.
The only thing that seems to solve it is turning split frame rendering to mode 1 instead of 2 but that makes the performance so low. I usually hit around 250-300 cps but that makes it drop to about 30!!! Any suggestions pleas feel free to comment......

Thanks

there is no 290.99 driver.latest is 260.99,but im pretty sure you meant 260.99.

try reverting back to a previous driver and see if that issue is still there.also id try vsync on if i were you, beecause it can be a cause for bad shadows(metro 2033,i can only play on normal, which has vsync disabled).

on a side note, you are a really old member here and this is your 2nd post?! whats the deal man?

Hi bud. I've tried reverting back to previous releases (260 is correct sorry) and no joy. Thing is I seem to be the only one with this problem... I've checked everywhere to no joy. I turned vsync on (as I always have it off) and no joy, turned it back off and the program crashed to desktop. Any other ideas? I cannot be the only one out there with this problem. Any other ideas.

The reason I guess this only my second post is because I usually work things out for myself by checking other peoples posts.... In this particular case I'm a little stumped. Just for the record I have deleted and reinstalled the game, also removed display drivers and reinstalled them.

You know how it is with CSS, you leave it alone for a good few months after spending a few hundred hours on it and then think to yourself "oh I'll just have a couple of rounds" you find a decent server and 7 hours later your wondering why you ever stopped playing lol :). I can play just fine with this flickering but it does get a little annoying....

Any help is much appreciated peeps!!
