9500 GT, can't play any Shader Model 3.0 games!
I just got a 9500 GT, and while not great, it is a huge step up from the 7300 gs I had before. Correct me if I'm wrong, the the 9500 supports SM3.0, right? Every time I try to play Bio Shock, Fallout 3, or Mass Effect, I get the same error: Cannot initialize shader, outdated shader model. What gives here? I've got DX9, even tried using the DX10 for XP patches, not sure why this isn't working. Any help would be great.

Specs:
Dual Core 2.8gHz intel
4GB DDR2 RAM
1GB DDR2 9500GT
182.50 Driver
XP Professional

Well, for starters, remove ALL the DX10 hacks you installed. These can cause all sorts of issues. Then install the official DX update from Microsoft.com. Then you might need to re-install your video drivers (might need to use an older driver).

Well, I uninstalled those, but it wasn't working before them anyway. This really is frustrating, can someone help me out here? It keeps saying it can't initialize pixel and vertex shaders.

Do you have enough power to power that card? What PSU are you running?

Since you installed DX 10 hacks then how about a fresh reinstall of your OS. What say Hexen?

I was thinking that too. Those hacks do all sorts of weird stuff. But he did say it wasn't workjing before he added those hacks. While a reformat and reinstall of the OS wouldn't hurt, it might not help either.
