Official 391.35 Game Ready WHQL Display Driver Feedback Thread (Released 3/27/18)

I find this driver is extremely unstable. I do a fresh reboot to go into VR (FalloutVR), but the driver will crash with a few browser tabs open as well (Ok, a lot of browser tabs). I also had a lot of driver crashes with FireFox Nightly, but I'm using the release version now and they went away - until I loaded this NVidia driver. Far Cry 5 does not even launch without crashing, GTA5 has bad screen tearing and then crashes, Borderlands 2 crashes if there's an explosion. Clean installed Win10 so these are the only things I have installed on my PC with GeForce Experience. Anyone else with a 10 series having these issues? I've had my rig for a year now and it worked exceptionally well before the update to 391.35.

This sounds like a hardware stability problem if so many games crash on a single machine but not for the majority of other people. Check memory, temps, voltages (12V) for example with HWinfo, BIOS etc.

Thanks for showing me that tool. Pretty useful however nothing seems out of the ordinary. I think I'll just wait it out.

Last I saw was when I got an update for 1803 days after I installed the OS. That was on the 10th and not a peep since. 17133 is the major build number and that was out on the 5th. http://www.hardcoregames.biz/windows-10-version-1803-delayed/ Nothing on the feedback and insider blog, so i suspect that something is going on that is outside my circle.

These are some issues that I've been experiencing with Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition. I'm hoping that some of this information will be useful. A. Turf Effects grass disappearing and flickering near Malmalam Thicket. Settings can be seen at 0:37. Location on map can be seen at 0:53. A temporary workaround for the time being is to turn off Turf Effects, which can be seen at 1:55. Strangely, the issue didn't seem to occur when it was raining, as seen at 2:44. Additionally, the entire ground appears to flicker briefly for about a second at around 0:13. Stuttering can also be observed at that point. Link to video: https://youtu.be/XLV4lUQtgVI B. Bug with "Highest" Lighting setting in a tunnel just outside Norduscaen Blockade. Exact location displayed in video. It's possible that something similar occurs in other areas, but this is the only location where the issue is most apparent. There appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel with Lighting set to Highest, but there is no visible light source at that section of the tunnel. Temporary workaround is turning Lighting setting from Highest to High, as seen at 0:25. Link to video: https://youtu.be/FOXDERwr3ok C. Flickering water. I've seen this issue appear throughout the game when walking through bodies of water. Here's a video clip showing the flickering water issue as I was exploring the Malmalam Thicket. This issue was also apparent as I was exploring Crestholm Channels, for example. Again, this appears to happen with water throughout the game. Link to video: https://youtu.be/XsCj16YnbHA D. Flickering shadows, which appear to be caused by the light from Aranea's airship. The issue is most apparent during the first encounter with Aranea after Imperial Infiltration. I would imagine that similar light sources in other areas of the game could produce the same issue. Link to video: https://youtu.be/AycW-mGkIRU E. Flickering normal grass in the Nebulawood area. Temporary workaround is to turn on Turf Effects, but that will result in the issue with disappearing grass mentioned above in A. Link to video: https://youtu.be/eANYO3-EmW0 F. Game stutters/freezes noticeably for a brief second right before it rains. G. Game stutters/freezes when walking through water. Link to video: https://youtu.be/hsHgSEWqeLM PC Specs: i7-6700k Titan X Pascal 32GB RAM Windows 10 Nvidia Drivers: 391.35
Thanks. Can you share a screenshot of the in game graphics settings used and what settings you have changed from the default NVIDIA Control Panel settings?
Thank you the reply! In-game graphics settings can be found in each of the videos, with the exception of C and D. Timestamps are included in the description and comment section of each video. However, the settings in both of those videos should be consistent with the others. As for Nvidia Control Panel settings, I have 16x Anisotropic Filtering enabled. For ease of reference, in-game settings should generally be as follows: Display -- Resolution: 2560x1440 Fullscreen: On V-sync: Off Graphics -- Framerate: 120fps Resolution: 100% Preset: Custom Assets: On Model LOD: High TRAM: Highest Anisotropic Filtering: High Geomapping: On Lighting: High ---> Issue with Highest ---> B. above Shadows: Highest Ambient Occlusion: High Anti-aliasing: TAA Motion Blur: On Filtering: Highest Nvidia Hairworks: On Nvidia VXAO: On Nvidia TurfEffects: Off ---> Flickering/Disappearing when On ---> A. above Nvidia ShadowLibs: On I would also like to update my post regarding E, the flickering normal grass. It seems that this issue is influenced by the in-game Assets option and Model LOD. Turning off the Assets option appears to be a workaround for this particular issue. Otherwise, if one would like to keep Assets enabled, turning Model LOD to either Average or Low is another possible workaround. Model LOD can also be tweaked in the GraphicsConfig.ini file, and I found that values of 160 and below would fix the flickering normal grass, albeit at a slightly reduced Model LOD. For reference, the in-game High setting for Model LOD has a value of 200. After adjusting the Model LOD value, I performed some tests around the Alstor Slough area (connected to Nebulawood), and found that the grass was no longer flickering. This does not have any impact on the Turf Effects grass issue mentioned in my previous post. Thanks again for the reply, and I hope to see some of these issues addressed soon!
There are users throughout this thread with all of these games working fine.
Thanks for showing me that tool. Pretty useful however nothing seems out of the ordinary. I think I'll just wait it out.
This is not how problems get fixed. Be proactive about the maintenance of your computer or sell it and buy a console.
