EVGA Geforce GTX 460 Graphical Glitching
Picked up an evga gtx 460 and threw it in my brothers cpu because i didn’t have the necessary connections in my setup yet. A while after i install the drivers, the screen starts acting up. I look into it a bit, and try reinstalling the drivers. It seemed to work, until i installed the drivers again. I just kinda put it out of my mind and hoped it wouldn’t affect mine. I have the card in my cpu now, and ive tried the latest drivers, drivers from a couple versions back, and the drivers that came with the disk. All have resulted in these glitches, but it always stops when i uninstall the drivers. Is the card going out? Would it be going out if it behaves normally up until it has drivers backing it? .. so frustrating. Video of the issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHRpEFKNH4w

Clean the card and replace the thermal paste/pads. This sounds like overheating.

The card is defective (Plain and simple) When the drivers are not installed the 460 is not functional (ie: is not used by the system for rendering). After you install the drivers the 460 is in use. The type of "artifacting" you are seeing is typically a result of faulty Vram (the memory built into the card in which the GPU uses). This is VERY common with Fermi (400/500 series) graphics cards due to their insanely high TDP (Thermal output). This is the reason as to why the 400/500 series did not have a particularly long lifespan (unless a full coverage water block was used). It is very risky purchasing one of these cards "used"/second hand. There is a reason as to why these GPUs are so "cheap" as most being sold will either be defective or "soon to be" defective. I would try to get your $$$ back on that 460 and replace it with something =/> from 600-series; such as the GTX650 or GTX660.
